Present day: Day of the engagement party
I stared at my reflection for a long time. There I was in my dress, about to be engaged to the guy who would make my life hell for the next year. It all didn't seem real at first. I knew I'd eventually have to do all this but it's actually happening now.
As if things hadn't already changed already. It's been a few weeks since I've been staying at Jaehyo's house. I didn't intend to stay that long but I was so used to it. And now after today I'm gonna be living with Jimin. Since the word got out of our 'relationship' people have been a lot nicer to me. And a lot more mean. I only assume it's gonna be worse when we're actually married.
People at work are still getting used to the idea of me and Jimin together, I bet they were glad we already had the same surname. They also act a lot different when Jimin's around, making sure they address me politely.
Chaeyeon is up to her usual antics, trying to embarrass me in front of Jimin, but all her plans have failed. Jimin manages to shut her out every time, making her more mad and more persistent. That's getting a little more irritating.
"You look beautiful." A voice popped from behind me.
I snapped out of my thoughts, "Unnie," I smiled at Somi through the mirror. She came up to me, turning me around so she could fix my hair.
"You okay?" She popped.
"Yeah." I hummed.
"Are you sure?" She added, stepping back and nodding once she was satisfied.
"I'm fine, really." I said, picking up the bottom half of my dress and shuffling away from the mirror.
"We didn't get to talk about what happened." She said, helping me with the back off the dress, carrying it in her arms as I slowly moved forward.
"I wanted to, but I got caught up in preparing for today." I huffed, finally dumping the dress down once I moved into a more open space.
"Yah, you scared me when you ended up in the hospital." Somi wailed, frowning at me. "Don't keep your worries to yourself."
"Sorry," I hummed. I took her hand and pulled her in front of me. I squeezed it tightly. "I thought about it."
"About what?" She popped.
"Jae Be0m." I said, making her eyes go wide for a second.
"Oh." She hummed, pursing her lips.
"I don't know what you see in him," I said, rolling my eyes. "I still don't like him."
"Aerin," She popped, gently shaking her head at me.
"But I guess, I can try to understand your weird relationship a bit more." I shrugged.
Somi lit up, a smile appearing on her face. "I know you're worried about me." She popped. "I'm not the same Somi now, I can stand up for myself." She reassured me.
"Good, it's about time." I scoffed, grinning at her. "But if he still gives you shit, I'll kick him in the balls." I grumbled.
"Okay." She laughed. "You were upset about the book huh?"
"Kinda," I popped softly.
"I gave it to him because it was the first thing he noticed about me. I think he's opening up a little." She hummed lightly.
"Why do you want that?" I popped.
"So I can understand him better," She said. "He was forced into the marriage too you know. He's lost things too."
