03. Lady Of The Hour

Carl Francis Gallagher was a man now. He finally kissed a girl and now he had his first girlfriend, that actually knows they're dating and he couldn't be happier. He walked down the stairs with his head held high and a smile on his face. Fiona couldn't help but notice the change in attitude.

"What's up with you?" She asks her Kid Brother and Steve watches in amusement.

"Had my first kiss last night" He smoothly says, causing Lip to speak up.

"With who?"

"Bella. Duh" Carl says like it's obvious while he pours himself some cereal. "And she finally admitted that she's my girlfriend! I don't have to lie anymore!" He says in excitement and Ian walks down the stairs.

"Why's he so happy?" The redhead asks in confusion and before anyone can say anything, Carl speaks.

"I'm in love Ian. Love changes you" He holds a hand over his heart and his tone grows serious. Steve makes eye contact with Lip who's holding back his laughter. Bella walks into the house, completely unaware that Carl is now a "new man".

"The lucky lady of the hour!" Fiona jokes, making the fourth grader furrow her eyebrows.

"Huh?" She asks and Fiona hands her a jar of baby food. The younger girl grabs a spoon and makes her way towards Liam.

"I was telling them how we're in love!" Carl excitedly says, kissing her cheek before walking up the stairs to get his backpack. Everyone looks at her and she only shrugs, feeding Liam some of the applesauce Fiona had given her. Debbie walks down the stairs and turns to Bella.

"So you're my sister-in-law now?" She asks and Bella shakes her head.

"Not exactly" Bella scoops some applesauce into the spoon, making a train noise as she moves the spoon towards Liam's mouth. He laughs, grabbing the spoon himself and putting it in his mouth.

"That's what Carl says" Debbie explains and he walks down, holding his backpack. He grabs Bella's and everyone watches in shock.

"What are you doing?" She asks, and he looks up at her.

"I can't have my girlfriend carrying her backpack around"

"And you make your own sister carry hers?" Bella asks, smirking at Debbie. Carl sighs and walks over to his older sister, picking her backpack up from the floor. Steve gets up, checking the time on his phone.

"Hey kids I'm gonna take you to school today" He says, grabbing his coffee and Fiona rolls her eyes. The kids start saying bye, Bella giving them a kiss on the cheek like always before leaving. Lip smiles, watching them walk out.

"I feel like Bella's been doin' good lately" He says. When they met the girl she was going through alot, her mom had just abandoned her and her dad was nowhere to be seen. She was very quiet at first but once she had met Carl she seemed to open up more to the family, she had just turned 6 years old at the time and was obviously not old enough to just take care of herself. Fiona sighs, looking out the window.

"Her mom came over last night" She says and Ian turns around. They had never met her mom and Bella didn't really seem to ever say anything about her. They had asked questions but the young girl always seemed to give such short answers. "I think she's moving into the house" She points and Lip gets up to look through the window. A car pulls up and a middle-aged woman walks out. She's all dressed up, in a tight pink dress and a white leather jacket. She has big sunglasses on and carries a huge white purse. A few boxes in her car can be seen as she takes some out.
