"chapter 7- rookie mistake"
summer walked out of the cabin to find nate waiting outside.
"so what'd he say?"nate questioned her as they started their walk back to the cabins.
"i now have the honor of being camp rocks' newest sous chef." summer groaned at the thought of having to help in the kitchen everyday.
"that sucks, especially since we didn't even do anything." nate laughed.
"don't remind me gray, i can't believe brown only punished me. this is so unfair." summer huffed.
"why don't we go swimming in the lake, it'll help you blow off some steam." nate suggested.
"i have class in like five minutes, and if i don't show brown's gonna have my head on a stick. i'll catch you later though gray." summer said as she jogged to make it to her class on time.
she walked into the cabin & the room was filled with gasps. she sat next to tess & the girls and they all stared at her.
"so what happened with you & nate last night?" tess whispered.
"i'll update you guys later." summer assured, and then brown walked into the cabin.
"so let's see what we're working with this year, who wants to sing first?" brown asked & everyone in the room raised their hand besides mitchie.
rookie mistake, and brown of course picked mitchie to sing. she nervously got up, and began singing. revealing to her new friends, that she had natural, pure talent.
"she's so good." summer stated, shocked by mitchies vocals.
"very good, was that an original?" brown asked mitchie.
"yeah, it's mine but-" mitchie started before brown cut her off.
"no buts, it's great." brown said, complimenting her work.
& watching that made tess' skin crawl and her blood boil. summer hill would always be more talented than tess, and she had come to terms with that reality. but tess refused to see the day mitchie torres outshines her.
"i didn't know you were that good. you totally took my breath away." summer gushed over mitchies performance.
"thanks, that means so much coming from you summer." mitchie exclaimed.
"so i've been thinking, and mitchie you have to sing with us at the final jam. your vocals in the background would be, like, amazing. and we never let people in our group. but you? a must, so you want in?" tess asked.
"well, i was thinking about singing a solo for the final jam." mitchie replied.
"i always fly solo." summer said.
"solo in your first final jam?" tess asked.
"i think it's brave, and she'll be fine." summer challenged.
"well, of course she'll be fine. it's just that, i know how nervous i get." tess retorted.
"we'll, i'm sure i'll be nervous at first, but-" mitchie began before tess interrupted her.
"in front of all those people, but yeah you'll be fine." tess said, smiling.
"mitchie you'll be fine you've done it before." summer stressed.
"done what before?" mitchie asked, confused.
"you've never sang in front of an audience, wow you are brave. come on girls, let's get started." tess demanded causing peggy and ella to follow her.
"maybe a group would be better." mitchie blurted out.
" as long as you're sure." tess replied.
"i'm totally sure." mitchie reiterated.
"i gotta run, i have to call my mom." mitchie added running off.
"i have to go too." summer said running off to meet nate.
