chapter 2

  Over the next few days, a new teacher was introduced. Karasuma-sensei. He was supposed to be our PE teacher, but I memorized his face. He was one of the government officials who introduced Koro-sensei. He was an interesting person. He liked to keep it professional, which is why he only treated us like students. As his classes progressed, we earned how to be assassins, and we're taught basic combat.

"Wow, that was fun, " I said to Nakamura with a grin on my face, wiping the sweat off my face.

  I wasn't a very athletic person, but I knew how to defend myself. Nakamura and I chatted happily on our way back to the classroom. I wasn't watching my way and accidentally bumped into Nagisa who was standing at the foot of the steps, talking to a figure who was standing at the top of the steps that I could not make out due to the sun.

"Well, look who is it. Ichika Masuda, "

  I froze. My face darkened upon hearing those words. I knew who that voice was. Besides, who would forget their rival.

"Nice to see you again, Karma Akabane, " I smirked.

  We glared at each other for what seemed like forever. Nakamura suddenly had a mischievous expression on her face.

"Cut it out! The sexual tension here is so thick I can't breathe, " she cackled.

  Both our heads snapped towards Nakamura, denying the claims that she made.

"That's ridiculous! He's my rival!" I spluttered out.

"Don't worry Masuda-san, I wouldn't stoop that low, " Akabane snarked.

"What did you say?" I huffed. I crossed my hands across my chest.

"What? Are you suggesting you want to date me?" he asked, raising his eyebrow, a smirk forming across his face.

He walked closer and closer to me until he was too close for my comfort. I backed away and gave him an odd look. What did he think he was doing? He walked past me after the unusual interaction, leaving me standing there wondering what happened. Suddenly, a yelp was to be heard from somewhere on the field. We all turned around, to find Koro-sensei's tentacle chopped off, backing away while Akabane threatened him. I sighed at the interaction and walked off.

When I pranked Koro-sensei, it was to scare him a bit. However, based on Akabane's thinking, it would probably continue for a few more days. While he would be distracting Koro-sensei with his little pranks, I would be planning Koro-sensei's assassination.

A few days had passed and I finally had my plan in place. I walked around the compound, thinking about what Akabane would do. Based on the route that he was most likely to take, he would probably do something unpredictable, such as falling off a cliff. I positioned myself near the cliff so that when he was falling, I would also fall off as an 'accident'. While Akabane would be unprepared, I dusted myself in an anti-sensei powder. All I had to do was wait. I was going to steal his idea if he even thought of that before he does it.

I had Nakamura pretend to talk to be and playfully nudge me when Koro-sensei came around. I snorted with laughter to signal her to push me off. Before I knew it, I was free-falling. I knew Koro-sensei was watching, so I whipped out a gun and aimed it above me in case he tried to save me.

As planned, he set up a sticky net under me, which I burned right through, melting his tentacles. I shot my pistol in his general direction, but he was gone. I looked around my surroundings, but he was nowhere to be seen. I couldn't waste this valuable opportunity. I raced around the forest to find him before he regenerated, but it was too late. Suddenly, Something was flying me up to the edge of the cliff where Nakamura was. She immediately hugged me.

"I'm never allowing you to risk your life ever again!" she lectured me.

"She is right, Masuda. You shouldn't risk your life just because of an assassination. There are plenty of other ways to do it, but I was impressed by your technique." he said.

  Nakamura looked at Koro-sensei and walked away, probably to plan another assassination that did not risk me dying and also to let me talk to Koro-sensei.

"But I am disappointed. I already scolded Nagisa the other day in front of the whole class. Were you not listening? At this rate, you'll never be able to beat me." his face immediately turned yellow with green stripes.

  I had a sheepish look on my face. Koro-sensei just complimented me! That was a lot, coming from a guy who could travel at Mach 20.

"Well Koro-sensei, I only decided to do it for fun. I don't know what to do anymore, I feel lonely, " I scratched my head sadly.

"Don't worry Masuda, you belong here. I read your report about why you were kicked out. I'm sorry to hear that you were framed for injuring another student." Koro-sensei said, "But just remember, you belong with us now."

  One of his soft yellow tentacles patted my head, cheering me up.

"Thank you Koro-sensei! I'll try to assassinate you next time. Next time I'll try harder!" I said with enthusiasm clear in my voice.

  I walked home, satisfied with my day in school. I finally felt like I belonged.

"Ah... It's so refreshing to see the looks of bloodlust on their faces, "
