Eighth Midnight

Chapter 8

Aster skipped merrily down the field while Ms. Eridanus was following her. I looked at Luna who was still at that position. The field remained silent and all I could hear was both of their footsteps.

"Why did you stop it?" I asked running out of breath.

Natawa si Aster, "Edi tuloy naten! Gusto mo pala mamatay eh!" sarkastikong saad niya.

"Ms. Sphinx, let go of Ms. Andrada," utos ni Ms Eridanus.

Aster pouted for she was still enjoying the fact that Luna still can't move herself. Blue smoke formed around her. Her hands also glowed blueish, concentration was evident on her eyes. She held Luna's shoulder which made her colour spread unto Luna.

Luna was out of breath when she can finally move. Muntikan pa siyang matalisod noong bigla mahulog ang kanyang hawak na axe sa damuhan. Nakatanggap naman ng batok si Aster nang mahagip ito ng paningin ni Luna.

"It was getting interesting, Aster!" sigaw ni Luna kay Aster na nakatakip na ng tenga niya.

"Muntikan mo na mapatay si Flare! May saltik ka ba Luna?!" singhal ni Aster.

Napairap na lamang si Luna at tinignan ako ng masama, "Kasalanan ko bang hindi niya kaya protektahan ang sarili niya?"

I crossed my arms, "Wow ha! kasalanan ko pala na wala akong sandata."

"Oo!" sabay na sabi ni Luna at ni Aster.

"Sabi ko nga," nahihiyang ngiti ko sa reaksyon nilang dalawa.

Ms. Eridanus cleared her throat making our attention shift to hers'. Her eyebrows furrowed and she clicked her tongue showing that she was disappointed with our actions towards each other.

"You're hestians you should learn to get along with each other since you'll be carrying out the academy's missions together."

"Where's Calix?" biglang sabi ni Luna.

Napakamot naman sa batok si Aster at tinuro ang kinaroroonan ni Calix. Aster then focused and waved her hands forming blue smoke that reached Calix's place. I tilted my head watching her do her magic; it was surreal to see them like this. With a blink of an eye Calix then closed and opened his eyes, adjusting his vision. He went down to the field while looking around seeing everybody that was still at a stop.

"Why did you interfere Aster?" He asked while rubbing his eyes.

"Ms. Eridanus requested it."

Napailing na lamang ang headmistress at hinikayat kami na sumunod sa kaniya. Nagkatinginan na lamang kami lahat at nagkibit-balikat na lamang si Aster.

"Ms. Sphinx let go of everyone in the field." Maawtoridad na sabi ni Ms. Eridanus habang naglalakad na kami papunta sa kaniyang opisina sa taas ng akademiya.

"Oh, right!" Aster chuckled while she waved her hands giving everyone the will to move freely out of her magic.

As we were walking the we heard the lingering noise in the field as well as the static sound of the microphone. Aster then happily skipped to reach Ms. Eridanus. She has too much energy.

Calix then walked by my side and nudged my shoulders. I looked at him plainly raising my eyebrows to indicate that he got my attention.

"You did great a while ago." he smiled playfully.

I rolled my eyes at his remark, "I didn't achieve anything."

"Uy hindi ah! You kind of caught Luna off guard," Nakatanggap naman ng hampas sa likod si Calix mula kay Luna.
