You woke in the early hours of the morning, when the sky was just beginning to turn a deep, hazy shade of blue. You found yourself laying in an awkward position, half on your stomach with your left arm hanging over the edge of the bed. Emitting a faint, sleepy groan, you slowly rolled over, allowing a smile to grace your lips as you laid eyes on the man who slept on your left.

Bucky's hair was tousled and fluffy as he lay on his back, languid sighs falling from his slightly parted lips every now and then. You shifted sideways and curled up against his side, resting your head on the smooth skin of his bare chest.

Bucky stirred slightly and, with a tender murmur of your name, placed his hand gently on the small of your back. Barely awake, he traced circles on your skin with his thumb, lulling both of you back into a peaceful slumber.

The next time you woke up, the sun had risen, bathing the room in a mellow orange glow. Your legs were tangled with Bucky's and somehow, you'd reached across to loosely intertwine your fingers with his. The metal of his left hand was cool against your palm, providing a soothing contrast to the warmth of his body.

Bucky's lips ghosted your forehead, while his nose nudged against your hairline. His right hand still pressed against your back, constantly holding you close to him.

You blinked slowly and moved your head a little, until it rested comfortably underneath Bucky's chin. You began to pepper kisses over the side of his neck, smiling as he hummed quietly, your affectionate movements starting to wake him up. His eyes fluttered open and his lips turned upwards in an adorable, drowsy smirk as he noticed you, already awake and snuggled up to him.

After a few minutes, Bucky sat up slightly, using his elbows to prop himself up. You whined quietly as your comfortable position was disturbed and he chuckled, before carefully grabbing your hips and pulling you on top of him. You placed your legs on either side of his waist, straddling him; not in a sexual nature, though. You just wanted to stay close to him.

Still smiling, Bucky sweetly brushed a rogue strand of hair away from your face, tucking it behind your ear. His hand lingered and cupped your jaw, tilting your head up until your eyes met his. Your gaze soon flickered down to his lips and you leaned forward slightly to kiss him, softly and slowly, but as lovingly as ever. When you pulled away, Bucky immediately drew you back in for another kiss.

Neither of you could get enough of each other and you savoured the rare times like these, just the two of you together, alone and peaceful. On this occasion, you didn't want to break the moment but, as you rested your forehead against Bucky's, you knew that it was time for the day to begin.

"Good morning," you murmured, your hands fondly toying with Bucky's hair.

"Morning, sweetheart."
