I'd had a crush on Dylan Hunter for the longest time. Since sophomore year I think. He had no idea I was breathing. I didn't think he was ever going to realize it, especially because we were both seniors. Dylan was what I thought to be perfection. He was a skater, a surfer, and captain of the school basketball team. Dylan was taller than me, he had to be to play all of the sports he did. Baseball and surfing in the summer, soccer in the fall, and basketball all year round. He had emerald green eyes that sparkled like the jewel. They had to be the most gorgeous ones in Sea View High. He had the hair of a skater that was colored molten chocolate, with bangs that draped completely over his forehead. He had to constantly fling his out of his face.
Despite the fact that he was extremely active, Dylan had a very skinny body and scrawny build, something he couldn't seem to get rid of. And he could kill when he flashed a smile, it was heartbreaking in an adorable way. When I'd first developed a crush on him, I became a stalker. I would watch him pass me and my locker every day on the way to history. And I fell in love with him, sadly, without ever talking to him. I thought I would give my feelings up, but it turns out, I wouldn't have to.
Finally, at the end of senior year it happened. I was watching one of our home basketball games in Gym Three. Sara Matthews had decided to tag along with me. The guy she liked, Brandon Blank, was also on the team. So, us being girls, spent the whole game watching the boys. When the final bell rang, announcing the end of the game, everyone on our side of the stands stood up, cheering and clapping. That was when we realized that Sea View High had won the game. We jumped up and started cheering along with our classmates. It was our first win all season, so its no wonder everyone's happy. I saw Dylan celebrating with his mates and grabbed my bag. I figured it was time to get going because it was harder to see him now. "I'm going home Sara." I told my friend. "Am I taking you home?" She nods. "Yes please, or I'm walking." She grabs her purse and we make our way down the bleachers, pushing past people.
We're almost out of the door when I hear the voice of my dreams call out to me loudly. "Emilee!" Slowly, I dare to turn around. Dylan is standing in a close range. He's sweaty and hot from the game and is panting because he's out of breath. But to me, its the most romantic meeting. How did he know my name? I ask, "Yes?" He smiles at me and I force myself to stay conscious. No fainting allowed. He steps forward. "Listen. I saw you here, and my buddies convinced me to talk to you. But, you wanna go see a movie or something sometime?" I'm shocked. Is he...? "Are you asking me on a date?" I ask him curiously. Dylan smiles again, nodding his head. "Yeah. You wanna go out with me?" I nod my head and smile back at him. I look at Sara and I squeal excitedly. "Dylan Hunter just asked me out on a date!" She smiles back at me. "I know! I was there. Congrats girl."
Our first date was kind of awkward. We went to see a horror movie. The ending of the date was the best part. As he dropped me off at home after the movie, he kissed me, what most girls want on their first date. The following four months were perfect. By the time June was wrapping up, we were inseparable. After a long day of swimming down at our local beach, we decided to hang around my house, as it was the closest one.
I've been watching him for a little too long because he looks up at me suddenly. I blush slightly as he grins. "Staring at me are you?" Dylan asks. I smile playfully. "Only because you're so cute." He smiles, "No, you're the one who's cute." I laugh softly. "Sure." His hair drapes over his face again, making him flip it away like he usually does. He stands up from his chair, where he had been previously waxing his surf-board. I sit still on the leather couch, pulling my legs up against my chest. Dylan walks over to me. I can't help but watch, I love his walk. He's so confident, in his walk, in himself. Its like he owns the place, he's so confident in his swagger. He know who he is and loves it. You can tell by the way he moves. Ridiculous, but I love watching him.
