Malia's POV:

I woke up and looked at the clock, it was 9 AM, I went to sit up but felt an arm around my waist. I drew my eyebrows together and turned around. Tommy was still here, he was fast asleep. I smiled and rolled over so our noses were touching. I smiled and nuzzled into him, he was warm and it was cold in our room, I felt a lot better today than I did yesterday and I wanted to cancel my appointment but I knew I shouldn't, I knew Tommy would be mad at me. Like a light switch, my stomach flipped on me and I quickly got out of Tommy's arms and ran to the bathroom with my hand over my mouth. I kneeled down and threw up, I began to softly cry as I flushed the substance away and cleaned myself up. I had my back against the wall and I shakily sighed. I felt my forehead and it was warm, I just laid down on the cold floor. It was so soothing and I was comfortable for the time, some time passed and I heard footsteps, I had almost fallen asleep again but the footsteps stopped right in front of the open bathroom door. He knelt down and pulled me into his arms, "What happened?"

"I don't know, I was fine and out of nowhere I felt sick."

"Why didn't you wake me?"

I shook my head, "I don't know. I didn't think you'd be here."

"I'm going in late."

I nodded, "My appointment is at 12."

"Ok, are you feeling ok enough for me to make you breakfast?

"Yeah, I feel okay again."

"What sounds good?"

I thought for a moment. "Ummm, some eggs and bacon?" I questioned with hope.

I heard him laugh, "Of course. Whatever you want baby." I smiled and he lifted me to my feet, I stood there for a moment and Tommy kept his hands on my hips just to be sure I didn't fall. I nodded and he took my hand and led me to the kitchen. He lifted me onto the counter and set a small kiss on my lips before beginning to make me breakfast, "I thought you didn't like eggs M,"

I shook my head, "I do."

"When was the last time you've had them?"

I thought but couldn't remember. I shrugged. "No clue, they just sounded good."

He nodded and dropped the conversation, "Let me know as soon as you find out what's wrong, ok?"

"I will, I promise."

"Thank you, babe, I know I'm being protective, I'm just worried about you."

I nodded, "No, Tommy, I know and I really appreciate it. I'm sure it's just a flu bug."

"Yeah, you're probably right, like always." He spoke with a smile.

"That's right," I spoke making him laugh lightly. "We need to get you an appointment for your shoulder. It's not good for you to be taking that many pain meds, Tommy."

"I'll be fine,"

"Tommy, you literally just said that I'm always right. Listen to me on this one, please."

He nodded, "Ok, fine."

I smiled, "Thank you, baby."

He nodded and continued cooking me breakfast, the glorious scent of bacon filled the room and it was wonderful.

The drive to the doctors seemed to take forever, I was waiting forever, my patience was growing slim as I waited for a nurse to call my name. My knee was bouncing up and down so much that it made the dog tags around my neck bounce up and down as well. I grabbed the tags and let out a sigh, I was the only one in the waiting room and I felt my temp spike. I was starting to feel cold and it made me more anxious. "Malia Conlon?"

I stood up faster than I meant to and walked to the door. "Hi,"

"Hey, so doctor Kim will be right with you. Just follow me,"

I nodded and walked into the room with the nurse, she shut the door and took my temperature, blood pressure, and checked my eyes. She gave me a confused look and left with a kind smile.

After a few moments doctor, Kim walked in and smiled. "Hey, Malia. How're you feeling?"

I laughed, "Not great."

"Well, let's figure out why."

I nodded, "Sounds good."

She walked over to me and started listening to my heart. "So I see your last name has changed. That's exciting!"

I nodded while taking in deep breaths. "Yeah, it's been amazing so far. We've been married for 3 months and it's been truly wonderful."

"That's good, I'm glad to hear it. So your lungs are clear and your heart is healthy which is great news. What has been hurting you?"

"I had a bad headache last night, I can't run nearly as well as I used to, I get lightheaded and can't catch my breath. I also had nasty cramps, I've been feeling dizzy, nauseous, and I've thrown up a few times."

She nodded, "Alright, would you lay back for me?" I did and she started to feel my stomach. "Let me know if any of this hurts."

I nodded and when she placed her hands on the sides of my stomach I gasped. "That hurt,"

She nodded. "Alright, Malia I want to get you an ultrasound because that will be able to tell us both what this is. I just want to make sure there aren't any unusual masses in your stomach that was cause concern."

I nodded feeling suddenly trapped and scared. "When?"

"Right now, we have one just down the hall so if you would follow me." I stood up and followed her down the hallway and into another room. She motioned for me to sit in the chair while she put on a different pair of gloves. "Lift your shirt so it's in the middle of your rib cage please." I did and she put some type of gel on her hands. "This is going to be cold."

I nodded, "Okay." She started to spread it around my stomach and it was really cold. She put a little stick on my stomach and started to move it around. I looked at the computer monitor and watched for her to point something out.

"There it is." She pointed to the top left of the screen. She then moved the stick so it was in the middle of the screen. She clicked a button on the screen and pulled the stick off but the photo remained. "Can you see this?"

I nodded, "What is that?" I asked with fear.

She smiled, "It's nothing to be scared of." She set her hand on mine, "Malia, I thought your conditions were strange but the more I thought about it, this makes sense."

"What're you talking about?"

"Malia, you're pregnant."

My entire world stopped and I was stuck in this moment. "I-I'm what?"

"You're pregnant," She spoke with a smile. "A few other women have had this issue too, especially very active ones. As soon as you start your vitamins you'll be perfectly fine again. We can give that to you as a shot if you'd like, they last for 5 months at a time."

I smiled as she handed me a towel to dry my stomach off. "That sounds like the best idea because I'll forget. Also, can I get a picture?"

She nodded, "Of course. I'll be right back with those."

I set the towel down and pulled my shirt down. I looked at the screen and felt tears prick at my eyes. I couldn't believe it! I was so full of joy and I couldn't wait for this baby to come. But what's Tommy going to think?

My thoughts were interrupted by doctor Kim coming back into the room with the photo of my baby. "You are about 3 weeks along. It's still very early and you have just over 8 months to go. We would like to schedule an appointment in about 2 months. So right as you turn to 3 months we would like to see you again just to check and see how the baby is."

"That sounds amazing, thank you."

She nodded, and quickly gave me the shot. I winced but then got up as she led me out of the room. I held the photo in my hands and walked out of the doctors. I got in my car and started my drive home with a smile on my face. I was in heaven right now and nothing was going to change that.

But of course, something did...
