Malia's POV:

April 09, 2008

Today, Manny, Pilar, and I were celebrating Tommy's 21st birthday. Tommy, Pilar, and Manny were all enjoying the taste of alcohol whereas I am only 19 and can't drink alcohol yet. My birthday is still a month out, Tommy completed his military training and is finally back at home. There are some weekends that he stays at the base the whole time but he's right back with me on Sunday night. I have still been working at the child center and I have been enjoying watching the kids grow. Pilar and Manny welcomed a little girl into the world a little over a year ago. She's such a sweetheart and looks so much like Manny. We have grown very close to their family, we see them both outside of work probably 4 times a week. I would take care of Maria and Tommy would watch Danny who is now 3 years old, and will be turning 4 later this year. This gave Pilar and Manny an opportunity to get out of the house, both myself and Tommy knew they would do the same for us. Getting to watch Tommy and Danny was one of the sweetest things I had ever experienced in my life. I was just enjoying time with Maria while watching the two boys on the floor, they were both playing with cars. Manny and Pilar were making Tommy and me dinner, it was a really sweet gesture and both Tommy and myself appreciated it.

It was a really nice Spring evening, I set Maria down and she was walking around making me smile. She walked over to Pilar and was tugging on her pant leg. I couldn't wait to have children. They're so sweet and innocent, I just wanted to have a family with Tommy. We have been together for 4 years going on 5, and I have no regrets at where my life is currently. Tommy and I occasionally still have talks about our future children, the talks get more in-depth each time, we've discussed what we think eye color will be with me having brown eyes and Tommy having blue eyes. We have also discussed what we believe hair color will be. Both Tommy and I think that our first child is going to have all of my features until he or she gets older. I really think that the blonde will fade from the child's hair. I got my blonde hair from my father but no one would've ever known that. He was a bright blonde until he turned 9. It all faded into a darker brown, my parents figured that the same would happen to me but it didn't. The second child would be an exact image of Tommy, and we believe the third child will be a perfect mix of us. Obviously, we don't know for sure, it's just what we predict.

My parents came to visit Tommy and me about a month ago. It was so amazing to have them here for a few days, I had missed them a lot. Tommy had some really good conversations with my parents as well, discussing his career and mine with them.

Tommy was on his last beer and we were getting ready to head out, Tommy wanted to take a walk for our last thing of the day. Tommy stood up and grabbed my hand. "Ready?"

I nodded and stood up. I hugged Manny and Pilar and said my goodbyes to Danny and Maria. "Good luck man," Manny said to Tommy, I just smiled, they got along so well and it was just like they were really brothers.

Tommy and I walked down the road and I knew where we were going, there's a spot just outside of our neighborhood that is just gorgeous for sunset. We walked for a few more minutes and I was right, Tommy led us to the small park where the sun was seen through the trees. He had his arm around my shoulder and was keeping me close when the sky turned pink, Tommy turned me to face him, I gave him a confused look and he smiled down at me shyly. Why was he acting like this? Wait, am I seeing this right? Is Tommy blushing?! Awwww. He took my hand in his and smiled at me, "Malia, I have loved you since the day I first met you, nothing will ever change how I feel about you. The future is incredibly bright for us and I wish I could go back and relive our past, I've made mistakes that I wish I could take back but you have always been able to see straight through me. I love that about you, and there's no one I'd rather spend the rest of my life with than you." Tommy dropped to one knee and my jaw dropped. I brought my other hand to cover my mouth and I started crying. "So, Malia Ryann Summers, will you marry me?"
