Tonight I saw a star
Nothing special really
But I have always been amazed at how small I feel
When I gaze out into the cosmos
And I thought wow how beautiful that little star was
But my smile faltered as quickly as it appeared
Because I caught me asking myself
If that star had been on the sky
The night we drank in the sand on the beach on the other side of the equator
I wonder if stars travel across the sky
Every single night to look down upon on our little green earth
I wondered if that star had seen how my whole universe shimmered in the reflection of your eyes
Everytime you looked at me
Please tell me it did
Please tell me it heard how you made me laugh
Please tell me it realized how you hold my heart in your hands
and how I am at your mercy
I want it to remember
Even when the two of us are long gone
I want that star to shine on and remember love the way you made me feel it that night
