I hear you in the rain
You blinded me like the sun

I hear you in the rain
In the noise that covers the streets
In the taps on your roof
In the droplet's race on your window pane

Because the streets we used to wander are still soaked but now in tears,
Because your room was right under the roof, enhancing the sound of the water as I drifted to sleep in your bed

Felt your rain fall all around me
For a short time
But when the sky cleared
You vanished

And I failed to see it

Was it obvious to everybody else?

I failed to see it
I failed to see that that was all you wanted
All along
All those times your rain showered over my head
Drowning me in your caring words
You never planned to stay

Should I have known?
Was it obvious to everybody else?

That you never wanted to keep me when the sun came back
You were the rain that nourished me
I grew with you
Bloomed
Like a flower
But you stopped
So suddenly

Your storm,
Your thunders and lightning bolts
All gone
and it was just quiet

My flower petals sank as life was sucked from them
I crumbled like a rose in the winter
I dried to death

I crumbled and sank until my crushed flower body kissed the ground
And there, I became it; the ground

Such a cruel fate
To be tied to the earth
In a world
Where you were the sky

In the rain I hear the way you whispered "mine" against my cheek after kissing me
And weakly I tilt back my head as if you were still kissing my neck and reply like I did back then "yours"

Now, every time the sky opens up to graze the earth with a few drops of liquid life
You shall graze my mind
And you don't leave it
Even if I tell you to

You whisper things to me
Things you used to tell me

And I hear you

I hear you in the rain and in the waves Crashing onto the shore

I can't stand going to the beach because all I think about when the seagulls call is how we slept in that king bed in that little cottage in the sand
All I feel when the winds blows my hair out of my face is how you would tuck it behind my ears as you looked in my eyes and how you would sputter whenever the strands accidentally landed in your mouth
All I hear when the waves roll up on the sand is the way you sighed my name when I touched you
And most importantly all I see in the blue sea is your blue eyes staring back into mine even though I know you don't look at me the same way you used to
