The Best Thing For Us

ROSETTA'S POV:
I was up early today. It's a Tuesday. I take a shower and shrug on an off the shoulder, mid thigh floral print dress and knee high boots. This should do.

I walk downstairs and prepare some cereal for myself. I sit down to eat and scroll through Instagram.

I go through my notifications and realize that Oswald like my picture. I was at a beach party in my bikini. I wonder why I allowed Bennie to take that picture and post it with my phone.

Seeing that made me think of him. He looked hurt yesterday when he saw Levi and I. I didn't see him in the other classes we share. I hope he's okay. I really miss him but what I did is the best thing for us. At least now I'm starting to believe it. Levi makes me happy, he treats me right. That's all I need in a guy.

We have a date on Saturday. I can't wait but I have nothing to wear. I set a reminder on my phone to ask Bennie for help. What? I'm a very forgetful person, you know.

I finish up with my breakfast. Not long after, I get a message from Levi.

Levi 💕:
I'm outside. You ready?

Me:
Yeah. I'll be right there.

I reply and pick my bag. As usual I leave a note. I walk out the front door and see Levi. He looks comfy in his white shirt and black jeans and this time he's in Chuck Taylor's all stars converse.
He's really pulling the look off.

I get into the car and give him a quick hug. Yes, I'm a hugger.
He drives off. In less than 20 we are in front of the school. Levi and I leave the car hand-in-hand. I hear people whispering about us but I decide to ignore them. It's better I don't hear the hurtful rumours they're spreading about me. I wonder who started it?

Levi sees his friends and walks over to them. They chat for sometime and he looks over at me with what looks like sadness. I wonder why.
He and one other friend walk over to me.

"Babe, meet Mike" he says. Babe. That's new. I'm not really a fan of 'babe' or 'bae' but I let it slip.

"You must be Rosetta. I've heard a lot about you. It's a pleasure to meet you. This dummy here never stops talking about you. I see why" he says with my hand in his and gives it a little kiss.

I just blush.
"Okayyyy. Hands off" Levi says and takes my hand in his.
Mike raises his hands in surrender.

I have geometry as my first lesson. Levi has Biology now. We part ways and I get to class. I take my usual seat on the second row of the class. I look at the seat behind me. It's empty. I take my eyes off the seat and sit at mine.

Mr. Hanson puts something on the board and asks us to find r.

"Miss Williams, what was your answer?"

"I had r as 7." I reply.

"That's correct" he says.

"Of course, it is. She's a nerd after all. I wonder how she scored two of the hottest guys at school in less than a month" queen b says and the others snicker.

"That's enough Miss Dennison" the teach says.

Just then the door opens and in walks Oswald. He looks horrible. He has dark shades on and his hair is sticking out in all directions. It doesn't seem like he cared about what he was wearing too.

"How nice of you to show up Mr. Russo. No shades in class. Take them off and take you seat." Mr Hanson instructs.

He takes the shades off. He has bags under his eyes and they look puffy. Has he been crying?
He's worse than I thought. Was it really the best decision?

He walks over to his seat. The rest of the class I try to concentrate but I can't.

OSWALD'S POV:
I didn't want to be at school today but my dad just had to jump in. I hate that man. He never gives me my freedom.
I checked out my reflection in the mirror when I woke up. I looked horrible but I didn't have the energy to care. I walk over to my shower and take a quick one.

I walk into my closet and shrug on the first clothes I see. My eyes look horrible so I put on some dark shades.

It's such a shame the teacher asked me to take them off. I didn't want her to see me like this but I also didn't want to get into more trouble so I did.

She looked at me with worry in her eyes. I just wall past her and take my seat. I don't pay attention to the class.

The bell rang. It's lunch time. I pick my bag and leave the classroom. I decide to have lunch in the cafeteria this time. I can't be in hiding forever. I walk over to the usual table with my food. I sit beside Bennie and Rosalio. They were having a conversation.

Rosy and Levi sat in front of us being all lovey dovey. I felt a pang in me so I looked down at my food.

Bennie seems to have noticed and told Rosalio something. He decided to engage me in a conversation.

"Hey bro. You weren't at practice yesterday. Coach asked of you. You didn't have soccer so where were you?" I didn't need that right now so I gave a short quick answer.

"Home" was my reply.
"Why?" he asks. This guy just doesn't take a clue, does he?

"Personal issues" I say and look back down at my food. Rosy giggles at something Levi says as he smiles a dimpled smile. They stare at each other for a while. I look away. I don't think I'm ready to see that.

"Hi Oswald" Britney says batting her fake eyelashes. Gosh, this girl gets on my nerves.

"Hi" I reply.

"Hi?" She asks.

"What do yah except me to say" I ask her.

"That's no way to treat your girlfriend, Oswald" her friend, Ashley says

"She's not my girlfriend. You better watch your words Ashley" I warn. I'm not in the mood for their jokes.
"Now if you're done making my life a living hell, please leave" I tell them and get back to my food.

Britney pecks my cheek and walks away, trying to sway her hips. I pick a tissue and wipe her lipstick of my cheek. She really is a demon in disguise, sent to torture me. I can't eat the food anymore so I pick up the food, dump the food in the trash and set the tray down.

I leave the cafeteria and go for a drive. I don't care if I miss any classes now. I go to my secret place to think. It's a cliff with a waterfall. It's a beautiful place. I wanted to bring her here before all this happened.

I just sit there for hours staring at the water and thinking how my life would be if my dad hadn't turned into this strict monster.

It's 4pm. I have soccer practice. I'm the captain of the team and I can't keep skipping practice so I get into my car and drive there.

We train for an hour and 30 minutes. I go to the locker room after hitting the showers to change but then I hear some people talking.

It's Levi and two of his friends; Mike and Harry. They seem to be talking about something important. I know I'm not supposed to be eavesdropping so I decide to leave but I hear her name and stay.

"When are you going to break the news to Rosetta?" Harry asks.
What news?

"Not yet. She hasn't declared love for me yet" Levi says.

"True. The dare was for her to fall in love with him." Mike states.

Dare? ROSY IS A FUCKING DARE TO HIM?

I get so angry but I can't just barge in and beat the pulp out of him. They'll know I was eavesdropping so instead I hide in a nearby classroom till I'm sure they've left before I change.

I've got to tell Rosy about it. I have no proof but she has to believe me. I hope she does. I really hope so.
