It's Time

ROSETTA'S POV:
"Why are you guys out here?" I ask Bennie and Ross.

"She's being examined. The doctors asked us to stay out." Bennie answers.

I let go of Oswald's hand and sit beside Ross.

We stay silent for a while before he finally speaks up, "I don't want to lose her, Rosy. I can't let her go."

I usually have something to say at least to console him but it's evident that mere words will do no good so instead, I hug him.

Soon enough, it turns into a group hug.

Our parents rush in moments later.

"Where is she?" Danie's dad asks.

"Inside." Bennie points to a certain room.

We sit around for a while, silently praying for a miracle to happen.

A doctor walks out of the hospital room and we all rush over to him.

"Daniella Espinoza?" He asks.

"Yes, we're her parents." Her dad responds.

"I wish I could say she has a little more time but that'd be lying. She could be gone in the next few hours or days. That's all we know for sure."

"C-Can we see he-r now?" Her mom manages to speak up, the first words she has said since she got here.

"Yes, you can." He says and leaves with an encouraging smile.

"Guys, what took you so long?" Danie asks with a yawn immediately we walk in. "Why do y'all look so gloomy. Geez, cheer up. I'm not dead yet."

We all glare at that. "Relax, I was just joking."

She laughs and wheezes.

Her mom rushes to her side when Danie struggles to breath. "Don't talk so much. You'll get short of breath." Her mom helped her correct her breathing.

"Guys you don't need to worry so much. Everything will be fine."

We all stay silent, finding a place to sit.

"Guys, come on. You don't expect me to leave happily and peacefully when all you do is sit around carrying the burden of the whole world on your heads. Let's make these last moments memorable. Please."

"She's right. Sitting around now with sad looks on our faces won't help the situation. Let's make the most of these last few moments." Danie's dad says optimistically even though there's a hint of sadness in his tone.

We all engage in light conversation but all throughout, Ross stays silent observing everything.

I leave the bigger circle and join him.

"Hey, how are you coping?" I ask and he shrugs

"It's all going to be alright, Ross." I give him a big side hug and after sometime, he responds.

"Hey Rosy?" Danie asks. I look up to see all of them staring at us.

"Take care of that idiot for me and make sure that he doesn't end up with 5 dogs and a wise sensei." She says with a smile which makes Ross smile too.

He walks over to the bed and everyone steps back.

We all walk out to give them some privacy.

The adults sit together and chat while I find a place to sit, Bennie to my left and Os to my right.

He pulls me into him and wraps his arms around me.

He sit in silence for a while.

"Hey, no fair." Bennie walks over to Oswald's right side and lays under his right arm.
