School was officially over for me. After detention I stole the car keys from the boys' lockeroom(yes I snuck in there) and drove to a nearby bakery. Rosalio was going to be furious but it was worth it.
I was craving for some cake and ice cream. I ordered tres leches cake and vanilla ice cream with sprinkles just like I liked it when I was little.
I sat at the table scrolling through Whatsapp when someone walks towards me.
"Hi. Can I sit here?" She asks.
"Of course." I gesture to the seat in front of me and she sits.
We sit in silence until she speaks up.
"Have we met before? Because you look oddly famaliar. From a book or magazine?" She asks, thinking to herself. Then it looks like something clicks.
"Wait. You're Rosetta Williams right?"
"Um yeah. How do you know that?"
"Come on. You're trending on social media. Levi Daniels isn't only famous at your school. He has over one million followers on Instagram just for being him. That slap went viral. A girl who goes by the name SassyQueen posted it"
"Can I see it?" I ask and she opens her Instagram to show it to me.
The kiss and slap were there too and it was captioned "Levi Daniels gets turned down by a nerd in the most hilarious way ever😂"
Someone kill me right now.
I was tagged in the photos but I haven't been on Insta lately. I give the phone back to her and pick mine up, going on Instagram.
I have 100 new followers. A lot of people might have liked my reaction then.
I go through SassyQueen's posts and realise she's Mathilda. The girl He Who Shall Not Be Mentioned was with the day after our breakup.
Why did she do it though?
I ponder on possible reasons why she'd do that to him. Perhaps he was still together with her at that time or he broke up with her before that.
Either way, it doesn't matter. As long as it doesn't affect my life I'm okay.
Five minutes later I get a call from Rosalio.
"Hel-"
"Where the heck are you and where's my car?" He shouts through the phone that I have to draw it away from my ear.
"Relax Hippo. I just drove over to the bakery like 2 blocks away. You can either wait 30 minutes for me to finish up and pick you up or have someone drop you off here." I say and hang up before he can say anything else.
I'm so dead when he sees me.
Minutes later the bell to the shop dings and I look up to see Rosalio enter with Oswald behind him.
He just had to ask Oswald for a ride, didn't he?
He notices me and walks over. He looks angry.
I pick up my phone and pretend to be on a call so he won't yell at me and create a scene.
"Hi Bennie. How's Africa....
Really? I've missed that place" I start.
"Yeah. Uh huh. Oh yeah. I loved doing that too but rain at this time of the year? The climate really has changed then"
I am about to talk more when the phone is snatched from my hand.
"Hey! Do you mind? I was on an important call" I whine
