it wasn't a special day. you just decided to dress nice for once. you were still you, right?
_
Tadashi was daydreaming in morning practice, as usual. He was working on his servers as usual but his arms felt like they were going to fall off.
He was thinking about you, (Y/N). You both have best friends for a long time but recently, he caught feelings. It was distracting his day-to-day life and he didn't know what to do.
You both were friends ever since birth, with both your parents being friends. You went to a different elementary, where he replaced you with Kei. Jokes, all three of you were super tight-knit so, of course, you got close to all the volleyball boys.
"Morning boys!" you called out from outside the gym. All the boys stopped what they were doing and greeted you, their favorite cheerleader. Then they looked back up, everyone started freaking out.
"I- Is that a skirt?" Noya squawked, utterly spooked.
"You have ankles?!" Shoyo exclaimed, squinting at you.
"I thought you were built like a box!"Asahi pointed out obliviously. Everyone went silent.
"Aashi!" Daichi scolded, chasing the innocent third-year around the gym as you just laughed it off. You were just wearing a skater skirt and crop top. It was quite simple but it was probably the fact that you always wore sweatpants and hoodies. No matter what. You just felt like dressing up. You wanted to feel pretty.
You snuck a glance at Tadashi. He wasn't even looking at you. "Hey Kei, Yammi," you greeted your best friends.
Kei gave you a nod but went back to arguing with Kageyama. The nerd was calling you ugly while the raven-haired boy screaming at him that you were pretty. You looked disgustedly at Kei but turn to Yamaguchi who was now just staring at the volleyball in his hands. "You.. alright?" you asked, now concerned.
He looked up, startled that you were in front of him. "Oh, yeah," he assured as the bell rang. "Let's go to class?" he suggested. You nodded, quickly saying goodbye to the others before walking out with the freckled boy.
As you both walked through the halls, you felt more uncomfortable. Maybe it was a bad idea.
It's definitely weird for your shapeless fashion sense to suddenly become casual and cute."Are you okay, this time?" Yamaguchi asked when you held onto his jacket. He gave you a little smile and you knew it was going to be alright. You nodded as he dropped you off at the door.
"I'll see you later, Yammi," you said, ruffling his hair. His ears turned red but he nodded and headed to his class right next door. He would normally be in your class but he was too smart and ended up becoming the teacher aid for the other class.
You were looking out the window, daydreaming about who knows what. When you turned back to the board, the teacher was out and Yamaguchi was sitting at his desk, grading papers. You tapped on the person who sat in front of you.
"Hey, what's going on?" you asked.
"Ah, the teacher went out for a meeting for the rest of the class and Tadashi is filling in. We just have to review problems," she answered with a smile. "By the way, (Y/N), you look super pretty today!"
You thanked her as she gave you a copy of the problems. You started to work but ended up trying to steal glances at Tadashi when you could. You took out a post-it note and started to write a note when someone tapped on your shoulder.
"(Y/N), can you help me?" a boy asked. You stared at him. He was one of the more popular boys in school and he's never said a word to you. You shrugged, leaning towards him.
"What do you need help with? Although, why don't you ask Yammi? He's probably the smartest.." you pointed out, gesturing toward the boy who looked up when you said his name. He gave you a smile but went back to his papers.
The male gawked at you and ignored your words. "Anyways, you look hot today," he said. You laughed awkwardly, starting to explain the first problem. "Want to go out for lunch together?" he asked.
"Uh, anyway. You have to bring the variable here-" you started to say, pointing to the numbers. He took your hand in his, forcing you to listen to him.
"Playing hard to get?" he asked, talking softly so only you could hear. You couldn't help yourself and visibly cringed. His eyes flashed, letting go of you.
"I'll just go back to my seat.." you said, seating back down. That was weird. You couldn't even pick up your pencil when the male dropped his eraser just in front of your desk.
"Can you get that for me, (Y/N)?" he asked, staring at you. Why was he still talking to you? You sighed, getting up and leaning down to pick the item up. That's when you felt a hand on your thighs and immediately stood up.
You stared at him, your eyes wide and your face red. The smirk on his face scared you. You looked around. Sitting at the sides of the classroom, no one saw. You threw the eraser at him and ran out of the classroom, tears threatening to spill. You went to the bathroom and splashed water on your face.
"That pervert.." you muttered, looking at your face. You weren't even that attractive. All your fear turned into anger and you tried to calm down. You couldn't just leave class, you were already going to get in trouble.
You sighed and exited the restroom. Seeing Tadashi outside made you jump. "What are you doing?" you asked. "The class..?"
"It doesn't matter," he said, sounding frustrated. "I.. saw what happened,"
You bit your lip. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to just run out," you apologized.
"(Y- Y/N), it's not your fault!" he assured, taking off his jacket and draping it over your shoulders. "Let's go to class. I'll work with you," he offered with a slight smile. You nodded, following him to class.
end.
after story:
"What the hell did that nobody do?" Kei asked, rolling up his sleeves. His voice was as monotone as ever but his eyes were wide open.
"Who decided to mess with (Y/N)?" Tanaka roared, getting Noya equally mad.
"You know that's illegal, right?" Koshi pointed out starting to pull out his phone and dialing 911.
"I- It's alright!" you assured, hugging Tadashi's arm. You forgot how scary the boys were when they all set their mind on something.
