“You like me?” Shane asked.

“Yes, and all this years, I lied to you, remember April 11, 1999?”

“Yes, that was the time when we both cooked steak for breakfast, when me and Nicky fought and I ask you the most terrifying question in the world.” Shane replied.

“Yup, you asked me if I like you, but I couldn’t answer that question; because it was too harsh.  But to be honest, at that time, I really like you Shane, and until now, I’m still hoping if there’s a chance, a single chance, a single spark that you’ll ever feel the same. But I thought that would never happen, because you have a girlfriend, I know you love her so much, but I still like you Shane, I really do.” Julie was now being truthful to Shane. But it was time for Shane to confess;

“ April 10, 1999, that was the time when I first saw you, Julie, believe it or not, for me it was like love at first sight, I couldn’t stop staring at you, and when you sat beside me in the restaurant where Louis Walsh treated us, I was the happiest man on earth. Then later that night, when I learned that you were the one who slept beside me, I wished that I woke up earlier than you did, so I could have covered you with a blanket, because I know the room is very cold. But all those things that I felt for you were all gone, because I thought you never even liked me, but rather you like Nicky, you were with him all the time. And how about Ethan?, I thought he was your boyfriend.”

“Nicky was like my adviser, he told me that I should never give up on you, because he could feel that I have a chance for you, which I don’t really know if it’s true. And Ethan’s my brother, Shane.” Julie tears fell on her cheek. She started to cry.

Shane wiped Julie’s tears by his hands and he moved towards her and hugged her. Shane was stopping his tears to fall down, but he couldn’t do it, this sorrow is stronger than he is. His tears start falling and he wiped it with his hands.

“I’m so sorry, Julie.” Shane said and she’s still hugging her. The tighter the hug, the better comfort it gives, Shane thought.

“I’m sorry I lied Shane.” Julie whispered. Shane heard it.

An hour later, it was time for Shane to go.

“Please come at my party tomorrow night.” Shane said.

“Yes, I will Shane.”

8:00 pm

Julie was on the party and she was still hoping that Nicky could come.

She was looking around when someone covered her eyes, she turned around.

“Shane!” She smiled and hugged him.

“Happy Birthday!” She added.

“Thanks, I’m glad you came.” Shane smiled.

“Would I ever miss my friend’s birthday?” Julie laughed and handed him her gift.

“You know, attending my party is already a great gift for me.” Shane said.

“Aww, but I wanted you to have a remembrance from me.”

“This is it?” Shane shook the box.

“No, don’t! It might break inside.” Julie warned him.

“Alright, I can’t wait to open it.” Shane smiled and went back inside, she’s very happy that Julie made it to his party.

Later, she saw Gillian walking in the entrance, and Shane escorted her inside. What a gentlemen, Julie thought.
