Chapter 19

9:00am

Nicky and Julie were following Gillian’s car. This is their last chance, they can’t lose it, they saw Gillian parked in front of a house. Both of them wished for the man to appear, the man they saw at the mall.

“Honey!, I’m on my way to the airport.” Gillian said.

Bingo! That was the man they saw at the mall, that’s Gillian’s real boyfriend.

“Take care, honey, good luck on your new business.” The man told Gillian and they kissed their lips.

When Gillian left with her car, they went out and started knocking on the man’s door.

“Hello there, I’m Nicky Byrne, and this is Julie Sparks, were here to tell you that your girlfriend Gillian was cheating on you.”

“That’s way too harsh, Nicky.” Julie told him

“I know, we have to chase them in the airport now.”

“What are you saying?, My girlfriend Gillian is off to Dubai for some business project.” The man said.

“She’s not, she also has another boyfriend, Shane Filan and he is going to propose to her in Dubai!” Julie said.

“Are you sure of what you’re saying?” the man asked.

“Yes, if you really wanted to know, we can take you to the airport with us and see it for yourself.” Nicky suggested.

“Alright, I’m coming with you.” The man said.

He rode with Nicky’s car and they went as fast as they can.

They arrived at the airport and the three of them searched for Gillian and Shane.

Julie saw them, holding hands with each other.

“There they are” she shouted.

Nicky and the man looked at where Julie was looking.

“Gillian! Gillian!” the man shouted.

“Shane!” Julie shouted and with just one shout, Shane looked at her.

Julie and Nicky ran towards Shane.

“What are you guys doing here?” Shane asked.

“Were here to prove to you that we were right about everything, Gillian is cheating behind your back and this man is going to prove it for us.” Nicky said.

“I’m sorry but me and Gillian are in a long-term relationship since high school days.” The man confessed.

Shane was just looking at him, waiting for him to explain.

“I didn’t know she has a relationship with you, and right now, she actually made me believe that she’s on her way to Dubai because of a new business project.” The man added.

“Is that true? Gillian is that true?” Shane asked her.

 “It’s all true, I’m so sorry, Shane.” Gillian cried. He wanted to slap her face but he couldn’t do it, he couldn’t hurt a girl.

“After all this time, I loved you since we were kids, and I couldn’t believe you made me think that my best friend was a liar!” Shane yelled at her.

 “I’ll take care of everything Mr. Filan, I’m really sorry about this.” The man told Shane.

Shane nodded at him.

“Let’s go Gillian, we got a lot of things to talk about.” The man told Gillian.

Julie, Nicky and Shane were left there at the airport.

Shane knelt down the floor and tears started to fall from his eyes. Nicky knelt down beside him tapped his shoulder, Julie knelt down in front Shane and started to wipe his tears with her hands.

They took Shane to Julie’s apartment, Shane haven’t spoke a single word ever since they left the airport. Nicky said that he should go because Georgina’s looking for him; he said that he’ll be back in the morning.

“Shane, you could sleep in my bed if you want to, I could just sleep in the sofa.” Julie said.

“Julie, could you sleep beside me tonight?” Shane asked.

“Of course, if it’s okay for you.”

“It’s okay for me, I don’t have a girlfriend.”

They both slept on the bed, but didn’t talk with each other. In the morning, Julie woke up realize that she felt warm because of the blanket all over her. She knows Shane placed those blankets on her; he wanted her to keep warm.

Julie went out of her room and looked for Shane.

“Is steak okay for you, for breakfast?” Shane asked her.

“Shane, I miss the sound of your voice.” Julie sighed.

“That is the sweetest I’ve ever heard from a girl.”

“Oh shut up!, it’s not.”

“Yes it is.” Shane laughed.

They both sat on the chair and started eating steak.

“I’m glad you’re okay now.” Julie smiled.

“Well, in my case, it’s better to let go than to hold on.” Shane said.

Julie smiled.

“Julie” Shane said.

“What?”

“I’m so sorry.”

“For what?”

“I’m sorry, for everything that I’ve done wrong ever since I first met you.”

“It’s okay, that’s life.” Julie pretended to smile.

“No, it’s not okay, you fell in love with me, but I didn’t love you back, I thought of you as a liar and I fired you on your job.” Shane sighed.

Julie’s not looking at him.

“And I admire you so much, because with those problems, you could still wake up with a smile on your face, you could still solve other people’s problems, and you could still show the whole world you’re strong even though you felt so weak inside.” Shane added.

“Shane, I get it.” Julie said.

Shane was just looking at her. When somebody knocked on the door, it was Nicky. Julie let him in and he joined them for breakfast.

“What’s up guys, why are you so quiet?” Nicky asked.

Both of them remained quiet.

“Hello?, am I talking to someone here?” Nicky asked again.

Still no one replied.

“Okay, that’s it! What on earth is the problem?” Nicky shouted at them.

“Don’t shout at the table.” Julie said.

“No one’s responding on me.”

“Why are you acting like nothing happened yesterday?” Julie asked Nicky.

Nicky remembered; the break up, the heart ache, the revealing of the secrets and everything worse.

“I’m sorry” Nicky sighed.

“I have to go now; I have to tell my parents everything that happened, I’m pretty sure the other lads already know about it.” Shane said and left the apartment.

Julie remained quite.

“What did Shane said to you?” Nicky asked.

“He apologizes to me about everything.” Julie replied.

“Everything?”

“Yeah, ever since we met.”

“What did you tell him?”

“I just said it’s okay, that’s life.” Julie sighed.
