The Party

"Please?", Arista begs as I'm looking for the perfect party outfit. "I promise, I won't cause any trouble." I roll my eyes and go over inside my closet to escape Arista's whining. Arista floats through the door. "Come on, I didn't cause you any problems when I went to school with you did I?", she says. I sigh. "Arista, this isn't school. This is a party. And I'm not sure if ghosts are allowed there." Arista floats in front of me. "But I've never been to a real human party!", she says. "And who knows, you might need help too." I think about that. I've never been to a high school party, and a little help could be useful. "Okay", I agree at last. "YAY!", Arista cheers and zips around my closet in excitement. "But!", I say, and she stops. "You have to stay inside my body at ALL times. I can't risk anyone seeing you. Understand?" She nods. I search my closet some more. And then I find it. The perfect high school party outfit.

Strapless white shirt and black jean shorts with pointed heel ankle boots. I let my hair down and applied makeup before twirling in my mirror. Everyone's gonna love me tonight. "Okay Arista, I'm ready", I tell her. She flies in the air and divebombs in my body. I felt a little lightheaded for a moment, but I managed to go downstairs and get my things and leave. My father wasn't sitting at the table drinking anymore. He had passed out on the floor. I walk past him and carefully walk to my car. I text Heidi that I would be there soon. Then I start shaking. Only it wasn't me doing the shaking. I blow an exasperated breath. "Arista, cut it out!", I say. "Sorry", she says. "I'm just so excited. This is so huge for me!" I groan and start the car. "Well, you need to chill. I can't be shaking when I'm at that party. The last thing I need is to look suspicious." Eventually we got to Heidi's place. It was all lit up, and there were so much people, some were hanging outside. I parked my car and stood towards the house. Okay, let's do this.

I confidently walked up to Heidi's house, and everyone's attention was instantly fixed on me. I stumbled a little. I wasn't used to all this attention. "Don't lose confidence", Arista's voice rang in my head. "Just keep your head high, your facial expression straight, toss your hair, and strut." I did everything Arista told me, and with everyone's eyes uncomfortably glued to me, I made my way towards the door. But before I could make it in, I felt something grab my wrist. I turned. Some dude was sitting on the front stairs. "Hey there", he said, grinning up at me. "I've seen some wild-looking chicks at this party, but you're by far the hottest. What's your name cutie?" I swallowed. Oh boy, I hadn't even made it into the house before stuff like this started. "Um, A-Arielle", I stammered. "Well Arielle, are you with anyone tonight?", he asked. "Well, no", I admitted. "But I do have a boyfriend, and he's on the football team." He still wouldn't let me go. I was prepared to fight until Heidi pulled me away. "Thanks, but I'll take it from here", she said, and leads me inside. "Thanks", I say. "I thought that guy would never leave me alone. Who is that anyway?" She grimaces. "One of my brother's friends", she says. "His name's Bryan." Well.....this night just got awkward.

There was loud music blaring in the living room where Heidi took me. "I'm sorry for him", Heidi shouts over the music. "It's okay", I shout back. "He was.....kinda sweet." Heidi shakes her head violently. "He is never sweet. Just ask his last nine girlfriends", she says. Nine? Wow. That's a lot of exes. Then Heidi gets a funny look on her face and grins. "Hey, it's your bae", she says, pointing. I turn and see Angel coming towards us. "I'll leave you two alone", she whispers to me and leaves. "Hey", Angel says to me. "Hi", I say and embrace him. "You want to eat anything?", he tells me. I look at a large table with food. "Later", I say, giving him a sneaky smile. "First." Then I put my lips on his. We made out for a long time until I felt a pair of eyes on us. I opened my eyes and I could see Autumn watching us. She looked away when I caught her staring. "Great", I mutter, pulling away. "What is it?", Angel says. "Autumn", I say, and Angel looks and sees her too. "Forget her", he tells me. "We came to have fun, not worry about her." I nod. He was right. My focus was not on Autumn, it was about having a good time and hanging with my friends. I saw Iliana and Janice sitting in a couch, looking a bit out of place. Probably because they weren't working for Autumn anymore. "I'll be back", I tell Angel. I go over to them, and they smile when I sit next to them. "Hi", I tell them. "You guys look like deer in headlights, what's wrong?"
