📍Toronto, Ontario
Jayden waited impatiently, parked in front of his little sister's middle school. He's already had enough and didn't want to be later than this for school. With an eye roll, he smashed his hand onto his horn. Emily jumped in the backseat of the car.
"What the heck Jayden?!" she shrieked with a glare.
"Don't what the heck me, we got here five minutes ago but you were too busy on your phone to notice."
She looked down at her device, not wanting to hear the truth. He was annoyed. It was their first day back from break and she was already causing problems.
"Get out." he sighed.
"Whatever, bye." she mumbled and exited with her stuff.
He ignored her usual attitude and looked up at his rear view window. He had to make sure she entered the building before driving off. His gaze slightly dropped, and he saw a pair of green eyes staring back at him from the rear view mirror. He looked away with a frown before starting his engine.
He played some music as he drove, trying not to stress about forgetting to do his math homework. He couldn't afford getting detention or having his grades drop. Below 75% average meant off the basketball team. He shook and bopped his head to the beats of his rap songs. He later made it to school and went to his locker.
"Yo Jay!"
Jayden turned around and saw his two bros Traveon and Caleb. He closed his locker as they walked up to him.
"How have you been?" Traveon asked, giving him a bro-hug.
"Roof?" Caleb asked, greeting him too.
"Yeah, hold up." he replied.
He saw Katie, some nerd, not too far from his locker. She's a girl in his math class who had a crush on him since the fifth grade.
He strode up to her with a his signature flirting face. The girl Katie was talking to saw him coming and told her to turn around and made kissing noises.
"Bye Katie." she said jokingly before walking off.
Jayden rested an arm on a locker next to her. With his green eyes, curly hair, angular face and deep dimples, it was no surprise that he could seduce any girl he wanted. Most girls at his school couldn't resist his charming face and deep voice.
"Can you do me a favour?" he asked to which she nodded a little too quickly "I need my calculus homework done by lunchtime. I know you smart enough for that."
She giggled and turned slightly pink. He handed his calculus book to the red head and joined his friends. It's not like Jayden wasn't smart, no. Unlike the stereotypical jock he had a great memory and enjoyed calculations. The only problem was that he barely had enough time to finish all his assignments because he was in the streets hustling.
The three boys went up a flight of stairs, then discretely made their way to the back of the hall. While his friends made sure no teacher was around, Jayden took a key out to unlock the door. They climbed the latter that revealed itself and made their way to the roof.
The school janitor gave him keys to places in the school, like the basement, the teacher's lounge, and of course, the roof. Most students would wish he was a teacher, he's one of the rare chill adults that works there.
The three troublemakers sat on the rooftop and admired the city in the morning, and inhaled the fresh cold air.
"Yo Jay, pass me your lighter." Caleb asked, taking a perfectly rolled up blunt out.
Jayden dug through his bag for a lighter and tossed it to the freckled boy. The roof was their place. They hung out up there when they didn't want to go to class, when they wanted to smoke or just wanted to get a breather. No one knew about that place except them, the janitor, and a few of the staff members. They made sure to stay very low-key about it for the sake of their freedom.
"I can't believe you Jay and Traveon," Caleb said with a disappointed tone "skipping class on your first day back?"
"Look who's talking." Traveon replied.
Caleb blew smoke into his face which earned him a punch in the arm. He was about to attack him again when Jay cut in.
"Man guys stop fighting."
They both looked at him like he was crazy. Why would he stop a fight?
"Gimme the roll." he asked and Caleb did so.
"You may now proceed."
They laughed and continued their play-fight. Traveon ended up winning, and sat on Caleb's back.
"Dude you fight like Jayden." he joked.
"Oh really?" Jayden asked after taking a last blow.
He jumped onto Traveon and they started fighting to. Poor Caleb was in the middle of all of it, getting squished between giants and a snowy floor. Jayden ended up winning, making him smirk victoriously.
"You're both so fuckin childish." Caleb muttered, wiping snow out of his dark curly hair.
"You started this." they both answered shrugging.
He threw snow at them, almost started a third fight, but Jayden stopped them.
"Okay now some serious business: we have deliveries to make downtown tonight. I hope y'all didn't loose your stuff."
Jayden and Traveon both looked at Caleb with serious expressions.
"Hey it was one time! And I found my packages afterwards..."
"Anyways," he continued "we gotta do this quick cause someone almost got caught last time."
Again, they both looked at their freckled friend.
"You know how my mom is on my ass! It wasn't my fault."
"It never is." Traveon said and laughed.
Jayden then started explaining the procedure they were taking, based on instructions from their boss.
__________
Jayden was walking down the halls with his head high. He owned the school and he knew it, so did everybody else. Well not the entire school yet as he was just a junior, but even some seniors feared and respected him. His friends, Caleb, Traveon, Ethan and Zack, walked by him as they made their way to the cafeteria. Students made a clear path for them, not wanting to end up on any of their blacklists.
A girl was walking by with her headphones on. Jayden simply pushed her out of the way to continue his route. She got mad and stood in front of him with crossed arms and furrowed brows.
"Okay here's what we not finna do." she stated, authority in her voice "Don't put your ashy crusty ass hand on me ever again!"
"Oooh..." the students watching chorused.
"Because you are...?" Jayden asked, getting in her face.
"Doesn't matter who the fuck I am just don't push me like that again." she said then walked off.
Everyone stared at him wide eyed.
"You're letting her talk to you like that cuzzo?" his cousin Zack asked.
"Yeah let her. She won't have it easy next time we cross paths."
And they kept moving with that. He was sure to remember that girl, with her hair in tiny braids tied back into a ponytail, her plump pink lips and pretty brown eyes.
