I lay in bed

Can't seem to leave your side

Your pillow's wet

From all these tears I've cried

I won't say goodbye

I tried to smile today
Then I realized there's no point anyway

In this time I've lost all sense of pride
I've called a thousand times
If I hear your voice I'll be fine

Hi. You have reached Jade's voicemail. Now, you'd better have a good reason for calling me, or I'll personally hunt you down with my scissors for wasting my time. Beeeeeeep.

"Hey Jadey! It's Cat! Why aren't you at school today? I miss you! Are you sick or something? Answer my calls! Love you!"

Hi. You have reached Jade's voicemail. Now, you'd better have a good reason for calling me, or I'll personally hunt you down with my scissors for wasting my time. Beeeeeeep.

"Jadey! It's Cat again! I just heard on the news what happened! Are you ok? Come back! Everyone's worried about you!"

"Hey, it's Cat! I can't believe you're still missing! It's been over a month now! Please, answer my calls. I miss you so much, it's not the same at school without you. You're not going to be in any trouble at all! I hope you're staying safe! Come back Jadey!"

"I can't believe you're gone Jade! I never thought that I would say this, but I miss your mean comments. I miss you everyday! I know if you were still here you would laugh at me, but I've started skipping classes now. I just can't handle it without you there. I miss sitting at the tables with you, laughing and joking around. I miss you Jade so much!"

"I was meant to be at your memorial today Jade. I know I should be there. But I know you're out there somewhere, and there's no evidence yet. There's no point in calling this number, I just want to hear your voice! You're an amazing friend Jade!"

"Hi Jade if you're still out there. I miss you being there for me. Everyone bullies me when you're not around, and well, nowadays that's just every single time I actually end up going to school. My nonna found out I was skipping, and now she just forces me to go. She even put a tracking app on my phone! People there call me mean things like retarded and dumb. If you were there you would just have threatened to stab them with your scissors. I tried saying that, but they just laughed at me and took my lunch. Now I'm hungry too. I hope you're in a better place, where ever you are.

"Jade. How could someone be so mean to do this to you? Your life was taken way to early. Don't worry, that sick psycho man is serving life time in prison now. Some days, if I zone out, I think I can still hear you, whispering grumpily behind me. School sucks. Every time I pass somewhere, all I can think of is that's where Jade would stand and yell at people, or that's where Jade poured coffee all over Tori. I wish that I could have known beforehand what was going to happen. I was a bad friend. I should've checked up on you more. But don't worry. I'm going to see you soon. Love you!

15 years later

Robbie held his two adopted children's hands as they walked through the cemetery. This year would be the first that he would commemorate this day together.

"Daddy?" His youngest child, 3 year old Skye asked. "Why are we here?"

Robbie crouched down. "There's a story I need to tell you guys. 17 years ago, I started my high school at an amazing place, and made the best friends you could ever imagine. Two of them were almost inseparable. They stuck together like glue. They had the most contrasting personalities, but somehow worked together like a charm. Their name's  were Jade and Cat..."

There were a few technical issues (and still are) surrounding this chapter, but I'll publish it anyway. I'm just going to try again a few days later to see if I can fix it. 🙌 Thanks so much for reading and for 200 views! 👏👏👏🤯🥳😅
