Each went home with smiles glued onto their faces, replaying the spontaneous laughter and rating the macarons over in their heads. She wondered what parts she should keep to herself and which she should disclose to her co-workers.
She didn't want to talk to Laura about Niall because Laura had a certain image of men. They were douchebags, losers, golddiggers or just plain sluts. And she knew that all within a few hours of meeting a guy.
Eva didn't want Laura to judge Niall, mostly because she wanted to live in this fantasy. Where an attractive foreign man she met in a new country would like her and treat her right. Will they get married? In her fantasy of course.
But Eva was also a realist and she knew that sooner or later Niall will show a side of him that Eva will dislike or something will occur to make them part ways.
But she didn't want to think about the end, so she replayed his laughter over and over until her mood got better.
When Eva got to the dorm, she saw Laura sleeping on the couch, so she draped a blanket over her then went to her room.
As she laid in her bed, she twirled the ribbon from the macaron bag in her fingers.
She was astonished at the magnitude of the attraction she felt towards Niall, it had only been a few encounters but she knew she never wanted to stop seeing him.
Meanwhile, Niall was solely focused on preserving the secrecy of their relationship. For once, he'd managed to spark a connection with someone who didn't know who he was and it was a new and intoxicating feeling.
He didn't want to lose that but he didn't know how exactly he would do that. So he called Lewis.
"Niall, you shit. It's 1 in the fucking morning." Lewis groaned.
"Shut up about it, we both know you weren't sleeping."
"Actually, you're right. Congrats, mate." Lewis replied chugging on his beer and loudly belching shortly after.
"I can't believe I'm about to ask you for advice," Niall sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Me? Advice? It's the only wise option, Nialler. Now, what is it? Romance, Financial, Musical? I specialize in all except musical... not really my thing."
"Capaldi, literally shut up. What're you on about? No, don't even respond. I like a girl."
"Well, there go my chances,"
"Listen," Niall said and as much as it pained him, Lewis stopped making jokes and listened to his friend's plight.
"I like her, we've talked only a few times but she's great. But, hear this. She doesn't know who I am."
"The fucks that supposed to mean?"
"Not to say I'm a fucking legend, mate, but I've got some popularity, you know? She doesn't know I'm a musician or was in One D or anything. Doesn't even recognize me, bro."
"So, you like this girl, right?" Lewis asked
"Yes, a lot. I think we could actually be together you know."
"Then what's the problem?"
"What'll happen when she finds out? First off, the fans will freak out. So they're sure to overwhelm her with positive and or negative comments." Niall sighed.
"Ah, yes. The infamous Directioners. Niall, if the only thing impeding you from persuing this girl is her finding out you're famous, just make sure she doesn't." Lewis replied.
"And how d'you suppose I'll do that?"
"Hang out at your place, take her to secluded areas, remain lowkey. If the paps getcha just say she's a childhood friend." Lewis replied calmly.
"She's from Afghanistan, Lewis."
"You fucker. You gonna tell 'em her whole life story? They don't fucking know that, if they assume you're lying because of the color of her skin, their assholes. No one's going to refute that, Niall."
"Let's hope you're right. I just came back from being with her, not sure if the paps were out but I have an interview tomorrow morning. We'll see how it goes." Niall said laying back on his couch.
"Best of luck to you, mate. I'm glad you found someone who makes you less of a shitbag."
"Innit, Lewis, fucking innit." He replied before hanging up. He placed his phone on his chest before staring at the ceiling.
Niall also wanted to be optimistic but he knew that one day he'd have to introduce Eva to his world.
He'd honestly love to travel with her, play a show in front of her, show her off to his fans, but he knew that it would probably all be overwhelming for her and she'd leave him.
He didn't want that. He wanted her to stay beside him.
He knew he was falling for her and he never wanted to reach the bottom.
