Niall had gone back to touring the morning after her graduation day. Luckily, three months have gone by since then.

"Niall! Niall! Guess what?" Eva said eagerly as she folded her laundry.

"What, baby?" He said looking at her through the screen.

"Well, actually two things! One is," She said before grabbing her laptop and going into the kitchen. "I bought a new plant!" She exclaimed and Niall laughed.

"Another one?" He said eyeing all the greenery in their humble abode.

"Well, it was either that or buy another teapot," She said and looked over at the cabinet with three sets of teapots. "And I don't think we need any more."

Niall smiled at her, thinking of what other needless things she'd bought while he was gone.

"The other thing is that I booked tickets for us to go visit my parents." She said nervously as she knew he was uneasy about meeting them.

"Oh really?" Niall asked in disbelief. "Already? Not gonna give me any time to study up, huh?" Niall said and Eva shook her head.

"No, sir. In the Jan family, we thrive on hard work and no sleep!" She joked. "Also, you don't need to study, you'll be fine. You're perfect." She said sincerely. Niall stared at her with squinted eyes. "Okay, maybe you'll have to learn some Urdu before but that's doable." She said walking her clothes into their room.

Niall remained quiet.

She walked back into the living room, asking him, "Alright, is there any way you can become Muslim and become a doctor within a month?" Before getting closer to the laptop.

Niall chuckled, running his hand over his face. "I'm totally fucked."

"I said you had a month..." Eva taunted him.

"Your parents will have to forgive me for sticking to following my dreams..." Niall said sarcastically.

Eva shook her head, "Dreams don't cut it. But, don't worry. I'll be there to defend you."

"I'm glad, when'd you say we leave for this judgement day?" Niall asked as he laid in his hotel bed.

"When you come back... in a month," Eva said smiling, knowing that they would be reunited soon.

"Alright then, it's set."

"Ji, so be ready," Eva said and Niall mumbled a response. "Well, I'll let you go, hun. I know you're tired so get some rest." She said kindly.

Niall looked at her through the phone and smiled, "Sounds good, I'll call you later?"

She nodded, "Of course, love you, Ni."

"Love you, Eves."

She sighed as she hung up the FaceTime call. She went to the kitchen and got herself a pint of ice cream before laying down on the couch and searching for something to watch.

Since Niall practically bought everything they shared, she quit her lousy job at Starbucks. Now that she graduated, her studies were no longer an issue for her. But now a struggle is to keep herself preoccupied.

This meant Eva was now looking to find a real journalist job.

She'd constantly be reassured by Niall that he would refer her to some of his friends who owned entertainment news agencies. But Eva didn't want her career to take off solely because of Niall, not to mention "entertainment news" in her opinion was just a fancy word for gossiping about celebrities, which isn't something she wanted to do.

So, as any other lost newly graduated university student, Eva began applying to intern at several news agencies.

As Eva began getting distracted by Bridgerton's male protagonist, she reached for her phone. Looking at the date, she quickly looked at her email. Today was the day the LA Times would give her a response.

She set her pint down and sat up straight. Running her hand through her hair she clicked on the email.

'Seevali Jan, thank you for showing interest in working here at the LA Times...' She said, her eyes skipped to the next paragraph.

'Unfortunately,'

She stopped reading and set her phone down. She picked up her pint and tried to console herself.

"It was 1 out of the 20 places. It's cool. You didn't wanna work there anyway." Eva spoke softly, stabbing the still-frozen ice cream. "Rege probably wouldn't like the LA Times either."

She was comforted by the fact that this was her first application of many. Plus rejection just meant she was one step closer to finding where she truly needed to be.
