CONNIE MOREAU TALKED Guy's ear off that early morning as they walked to the cafeteria for breakfast. After their extremely early practice, the two were quite hungry.

Guy stepped in front of the girl to hold the door open for her as she walked in. She gave him a quick thankful smile before sinking back into a thoughtful look. "I mean, it's improvement.. right?" She trailed on

For the past two days she hadn't stopped thinking about November and Adam. She continued to question why he couldn't talk to her. She knew he wanted to, everyone did. It just seemed like he really couldn't.

Connie's gaze found itself looking at the varsity table as Adam sat there with a tired and sorrow look. Unfortunately, it wasn't anything different for the normal. Her gaze was fixated on his deep-in- thought countenance as she but the inside of her bottom lip and sat down at her usual table. The girl then turned to her boyfriend with a ponderous look.

"Do you think he misses her?" She said in a near whisper. Before the boy could answer, Charlie and Averman sat down in the seats across from them with a knowing idea of what conversation was happening.

"Are we really still talking about this?" Averman asked as his elbow propped up on the table to hold up his head. Guy shot him a warning gaze as Connie sighed and ignored the remark.

"I mean, we all know he hasn't been the same since she left" Charlie shrugged before he took a drink of his water

Connie shook her head as her tongue was pressed up against the inside of her cheek. "It's like he's on autopilot"

Averman pushed his glasses up his nose to see where Adam stared down at his food in a daze. "Is he asleep or something.."

"Shut up, Averman" Guy mumbled. By then, all four of them had been staring off to where Adam sat with a glum look.

"He won't even talk about her for more than five minutes" Connie sighed

"It's not that he won't," Guy spoke up, "it's like he just- can't"

"I mean it's understandable," Charlie added with a shrug, "how would you feel if Connie moved away?"

Instantly, The mentioned girl furrowed her eyebrows and turned to where Charlie slowly registered what he blurted out. Guy Germaine pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed as he closed his eyes.

"What are you talking about, Charlie.." Connie asked in an curious and confused expression. She glanced to Averman but the boy seemed to be just as confused she were

"Good going, Charlie.." Guy mumbled as he looked to see the brunette boy give a panicked glance

Connie looked at Guy and gave her boyfriend an eager look of confusion. "What are you two talking about.."

Averman has stayed silent and thought for a moment before they boys eyes widened in realisation. "No way," He said out loud, causing all eyes to land of him. "You two knew and you didn't tell her..."

Guy sent Charlie a defeated look as the boy flushed red in panic. "We couldn't just tell her!"

"What are you guys-" Connie's face suddenly sank into a bewildering one filled with discovery. The girl gave Guy a look saying that she hoped what she was thinking wasn't the situation at hand. "Please don't tell me..."

Guy swallowed the lump in his throat as he held his breath. He couldn't say anything. The boy simply just stayed silent as he slowly watched Connie's facial expression turn into hurt and disappointment.

"He liked her.." Connie whispered mostly to herself, still quite stunned as she tried to take in everything she had been realising, "he liked her and you two didn't do anything about it"

Guy shut his eyes and sighed as Charlie piped up in panic. "We did, Con! We tried! He was going to tell her- he was.."

Guy pursed his lips together and winced as Charlie continued to blab on. Truly, the boy just was not helping the situation.

"He was going to tell her after the game, wasn't he.." She asked quietly- however, neither of the boys answered with words but instead guilty expressions

The look on Connie's face had turned into a extremely bewildered one as she switched her gaze between the two boys eagerly. They all stayed silent before the brunette girls determined gaze snapped over to Adam. Then, after a few moments passed, Connie abruptly stood up and began to make her way over.

However, her boyfriend managed to get a hold of her before she could reach him. The boy spun her around and firmly placed his hands on her shoulders so she could gaze up at him.

"Don't do anything, Con.." Guy pleaded, "you're going to make things worse"

"I'm confronting him," Connie whisper-yelled, "if I remind him, maybe he'll talk to her"

"He won't"

"How do you-"

"Aren't you forgetting that he knows you're her best friend." Guy interrupted in a stern panic, "he'd think you told her and that'll make things worse- to top it off, if he gets reminded that he liked her- past tense, what do you think will happen..."

"I don't know.." Connie mumbled

"It may not seem like it, but he's just as fragile as she is..." Guy reminded, "everyone knows that.."

Connie bit her lip and turned her gaze to Adam quickly. Still, the boy looked emotionless. Connie just couldn't take it. Every time she saw him, it reminded her of November. How November could be doing the same thing he was, just miles away. It truly broke Connie's heart and the girl wanted to do anything to fix it. But she knew Guy was right, no matter how much she didn't want to accept it.

"What do we do then.." she whispered in a raspy voice

Guy just sighed and let his grip settle down with his expression. He swallowed the lump in his throat and pursed his lips together with a shake of his head. "Nothing.." he shrugged sadly, "we just have to let things happen"

Connie shut her eyes in defeat before she fell into his arms. She sank into the warmth of his hug with pure neglect in her mind. As much as the girl wanted to fly over to England and personally bring November back to Minnesota herself, she knew she couldn't. She simply just had to let whatever was to happen, happen.

Of course, she hoped that the result wouldn't hurt either of them again. Although, at the back of her mind, she couldn't help but remember that, like this entire situation, it was simply just unpredictable...
