Rising Love

Chapter 6

After the game ended, Maureen invited me to eat at McDonald's before we head home. I didn't hesitate since she said it's her treat and I was also hungry.

"Maureen, let me order since it's your treat," I winked at her.

"Okay," she blurted.

I ordered what she told me. Hers is burger and fries and mine is spaghetti and chicken nuggets.

I laid down the tray to our table and started eating.

"Is his girlfriend beautiful?" Maureen suddenly asked.

I gasped. "Jake's girlfriend? Yes. She's gorgeous, just like him, " I answered after taking a bite of chicken nugget. I felt insecure.

She awed. "Really? What's her name?"

"I don't know her name. I just saw them together a lot."

"You are beautiful, too, Alice. You still have a chance," she commented.

I laughed. "Am I too obvious? Yes I have a crush on him but they've been a couple for four years now."

"Aha! I knew you had a crush on him because of the way you talk," she laughed. "You never know couz'. Boys are complicated, I give you that. The stare from a while ago seems too real."

I just rolled my eyes at her and we went home after finishing our food.

Because of Maureen's questions, I was intrigued by Jake's girlfriend. I don't know anything about her. I should research about her or maybe ask Jake about her.

After the holidays, our classes resumed again. Our prom will be on Saturday and I am really excited to wear my beautiful dress.

Its's already Friday and we were dismissed early. I'm finding Kate in our campus but I cannot see her. She cutted classes because she needs to run an errand. As I was searching for Kate, I ran into Kevin.

"Alice, who are you looking for?" he asked. He's wearing PE uniform. Maybe they had a basketball training.

"I'm looking for Kate. Have you seen her? We're supposed to do a project in her house today, " I breathed heavily. Roaming around the campus is tiring.

"No I haven't. You should text her," he suggested.

"I don't have load. Do you have?"

"I have load but I don't have her number." Oh no. I don't memorize her number.

"It's okay, " I answered timidly. That girl is dead to me.

"Want me to help you find her?"

I thought of spending my time with him. I cannot do anything without Kate. We need to buy materials and she's the only one who knows what to buy.

"No, don't bother. Do you want to come with me in the amusement park? It's been a long time since I visited the amusement park and I wanted to come with you," I said heartily.

He was surprised that he didn't fathom my words.

"Is that a yes?" I teased him.

He licked his lips before talking. "Let's go!"

We drove on the way to the amusement park. We were chatting in his car until we made it.

It was crowded. Many teens were riding the all the extreme rides like the roller coaster and screaming their lungs out. The kids were having fun in the carousel. All of the stalls are fully lined up by hungry people. It was super busy.

"Hey, wait for me Kevin. I'll just go to the restroom. You can sit on that bench," I pointed him the bench near the restrooms.

"Okay, Alice."

Walking towards the restroom, I was surprised when I saw a guy and girl kissing outside the boys' restroom. The guy is pinning the girl on the wall.
What the heck am I witnessing here?

They stopped for a second and the guy saw me. Wait. They're familiar. Oh my God! It's Jake and his girlfriend. I quickly went inside the girls' restroom. I knew the guy's back was familiar. He seems like a really good kisser, I envy her. Just kidding.

I headed inside a cubicle, thoughts full.
