Rising Love

Chapter 4

I turned my head to see who it was and it was Jake. I stood straight.

"Hello!" I greeted. I feel nervous again.

"Why are you here?" He scratched his head.

"Oh, I went shopping for our upcoming ball."

He stared at me for a while. I was supposed to be in my car now but here I am conversing with him. Again.

"Cool. Who's your partner?" He asked curiously.

"My boyfriend obviously," I said in a sarcastic tone. I held my bag tightly.

He licked his lips before talking. "The guy, Kevin?"

"Yup, " I opened my car to put my shopping bags inside.

"Do you want to see the sea near here?" He changed the topic.

I didn't know there was a sea near this mall. I felt excited, I love the sea!

"There is?" I said excitedly.

He nodded. "Come."

This guy is really my type. I like him very much. Too bad he's taken.

"Jake?" I called as I was walking behind him.

"Hmm?"

"How is your relationship with your girlfriend?" I walked beside him.

He stayed silent before answering. "We're happy but I feel.. " He said to me while looking away.

"What is it?"

"Never mind, " he said timidly. What's with him?

"Are you in love with her?"

"Of course, " He said devensively like it was a dumb question.

"How may years have you been together?" I asked curiously.

"Hmm.. 4 years, " He said proudly.

"How does it feel to be in a relationship?"

"You are in one, don't you?" He dodged the question.

Oh gosh, I forgot that I pretended to have a boyfriend.

"Uhm, yes. Sorry, I was just curious," I replied quickly.

"It's okay. There's nothing wrong," He said assuringly.

While we are walking, we finally reached the sea. It is just a few meters away from the mall. The sea is waving strongly. The sun is already setting already. What a nice view.

"Wow, the sea looks breathtaking!" I admired the sea and sunset.

"It definitely is, " He smiled.

I came nearer to the sea and walked on the sand. It feels nice. I saw Jake sat in the sand. I went near him to sit beside him.

"Thank you for taking me here, Jake."

"No problem," He said as he chuckled.
Even the sound of his chuckle is cute.

"Can I ask something personal?" I asked again.

"Sure, " He sat properly.

"What do you plan to do in the future?" I played with my hands.

"I want to be an engineer. I'm at 2nd year in college, " he answered enthusiastically.

"That's a tough one," I said.  He wants to be an engineer. I think I fell in love more.

He laughed. "It's hard but I like it. How about you?"

"I want to be an accountant. I'm in my last year of senior high school."

I suddenly heard a phone call. I think it's his.

"Excuse me, I gotta take this call," He said to me as he stood up and answered the call.

After he's done talking to the phone, He went to me immediately.

"My girlfriend needs me, let's go back now?"

"Okay," I muttered.

As we went back in the parking lot, I said my farewell to him.

"Goodbye Jake. Thank you for today!"

"Bye!" He said as he waved his hand.

If only he can stay with me a bit longer..

I stared at him as he left. I went home feeling happy and lonely at the same time.
