----Amelia POV----
It's been a week since I left the house Dameon has tried texting and calling a few times but I haven't returned any of them. It's not that I don't love him or don't want to be with him, I just wanted some space to feel normal again. At some point he and I will have to talk, but for now, I have to get ready for my doctor's appointment. I pray today I get a clean bill of health. Wes normally takes me but this time Dameon was but after everything it looks like, I'm taking myself. Locking the door behind me, I quickly realized I was wrong about that; there he was standing in front of his Jeep in his black sweatsuit with no coat on like it's not February.
Jeez Louise that man is fine
I kept my face intact but on the inside I'm cheesing from ear to ear that he showed up for me. He met my stride out to the sidewalk “You didn't answer my text about your appointment, so I figured I would just show up”, he said. I just stood there looking at him I was afraid if I open my mouth that smile I was struggling to hold inside would plaster itself all over my face. After a few moments of awkward silence he asked, “So are we going?” as he held the door open for me I just nodded my head in agreement as I slid into the seat.
The radio played the nineties at noon jams as we headed down the expressway he said nothing other than asking if I had been ok. I noticed his hand looked all Frankenstein-ish I want to ask what happen but change my mind since I don't think he would tell me. It was a quick ride to Dr. Marks office. I was place in the MRI room pretty quickly as we waited for the doc to join us. “And how's my favorite patient?” Dr. Marks boasted as he walked in. “Oh I see the hubby is joining us today better make this visit good shall we.” I glanced over at Dameon to notice a slight smirk appear on his face, it was the first time in a long time I had seen any type of smile out of him. They greet each other with a handshake along with a few short words before Dr. Marks got down to business, Alright Amelia you know the routine are you ready?”
“I am”
I was more than ready as I hopped off the exam table grab the gown and proceeded to the changing room. I made quick work of my clothes and hopped up on the machine slab as the nurse enter the data into the screen, I could see Dr. Marks and Dameon through the glass talking about something pretty serious, maybe if I'm brave enough I'll ask about it later. The test was finished in no time. I got dressed, then rejoined Dr. Marks and Dameon back in the exam room. It felt like forever for Dr. Marks to read the images, but he gave me a complete clean bill of health all my clots had either dissipated or were too small to be harmful and would go away on their own; he ordered me to finish my meds but other than that I wouldn't have to see him again for another six months.
It was a strange feeling walking back to the car. I was glad I can get back to regular life but after all that happened what exactly is normal life. “I thought you'd be happier”, said Dameon.
“I am happy I just wish none of this ever happened in the first place you know.”
“Yeah I know, but everything happens for a reason.” He replied while opening my car door. “Well one thing's for sure I know I'm proud of you. You've been through a lot lately and I don't know many people that could have handled it all like you did.”
“Thank you that was sweet of you to say and thanks for bringing me.”
“No thanks needed I told you I'd be here and after everything I want to make sure I keep my word in fact if you aren't busy I want to take you to lunch and talk so if that's iight with you.” I was hungry, and I was interested in hearing what he had to say, so I agreed. He was definitely working hard for some brownie points cause he took me to Giordano's, my favorite pizza joint. We got a booth in the back away from the crowd, we ordered a pepperoni pie with extra cheese. We sat in silence as we waited for our food. He was picking at the stitches on his hand, he looked a little nervous I wasn't used to seeing him this way it was kinda cute, but I knew Dameon wasn't good with expressing his feelings, so I figured I'd help him along.
