Rajveer Naina: Kya Pyaar Kaafi hai?

Rajveer was sitting in his room, feeling both guilty and relieved. He knew he had said some really harsh things to Naina, but he needed certainty around his daughter's place in his life; around Abhi being away from Naina.

He had been 5 years old when his parents had died. His father was an IAS officer posted in the Ministry of Defence; one day suddenly someone had come inside and shot him; his mother had hidden him in a closet. She was shot as well. By the time the police reached his house and brought him out of the cupboard his parents were gone. His loving family had disappeared overnight. 

He was treated well at the orphanage; some years later he met Lala Sahab who became a father figure. But he was essentially lonely, deeply lonely. He learned to live in his own world. The army gave him a sense of purpose, then Naveen became his best friend. And he felt secure and at home. But fate had other plans for Naveen and their friendship. Once again, his loving family disappeared overnight.

And then Naina came into his life in the post unusual of circumstances, he was hesitant to let her in because of his role in Naveen's death but also because he couldn't bear more loss. But he couldn't stop himself. Naina became his world. Riya became his life. And then the truth of Naveen's death came out; Naina had a miscarriage; Naina asked for a divorce. He was shattered once again. But she allowed him to stay in her life; in his Riya's life. And that kept him alive throughout the years he was in captivity. 

She brought him home; took care of him; lived with him. He began hoping for a family again. She turned down his proposal; he wasn't surprised. How could he deserve happiness? 

But fate continued playing with him - Naina became pregnant miraculously. He put the ball in her court by giving her the wedding ring; it had taken a lot of effort for him to put himself out there again, But she still hadn't worn the ring. Instead she turned to Abhimanyu Rai Chauhan,

He had had a difficult relationship with the prince of Barmer since their KMA days 

Raj (to himself): Maybe I am jealous of him... he and Naveen were school friends; he was a prince; had all the love and happiness and family and wealth. He was Naina's first love. Riya's biological father. A man who never valued what he had kept getting more from the universe. 

But he couldn't bear to lose his family again. He had understood that Lala Sahab was right - Abhi had brainwashed Naina. He didn't know if he could have Naina in his life; but he needed his children at the very least - his Riya... only his daughter not Abhimanyu's. His unborn child. 

He went to Naina's room; she was sleeping. He ran his hands through her hair; placed his hands on her belly. 

Raj (thinks): I want you to choose me Naina - always. Thank you for signing the papers. 

He then went to Riya's room. He kissed her softly on her cheeks. Riya woke up

Raj: Sorry bacha! I didn't want to wake you up!

Riya: No dada! Riya was just dreaming about you. Dada, sleep with me tonight! please. 

Raj: Of course; 

He snuggled in and slept peacefully after several weeks. 

Next day Naina came to check on Riya and found Raj sleeping peacefully with his beloved daughter.

Naina (thinks): What's making you so insecure Raj? Why are you letting Lala brainwash you?

Raj got up to see Naina there. She didn't look angry

Naina: I was just here to check on Riya. I have asked the cook to bring breakfast in my room; why don't you get Riya ready and bring her there

Breakfast was a happy affair, but just as it finished Abhi called Naina.

Naina: Hi!

Abhi: Hi! I am leaving Delhi tomorrow. I need to come and give you something. And I would like to meet Riya before I leave.

Naina; OK. Come over. Raj, Riya and I are at home. 

Raj (tensed): Why is he coming here?

Naina: Raj he signed the papers yesterday. He is going over today. He can come to say goodbye. I didn't call him behind your back. 

Raj: You can meet him if you want. He won't meet my Riya

Naina: What's made you so petty and mean spirited? This isn't you Raj. I hurt him very badly yesterday despite all the good he's done by helping me with bhaiya's investigation at great personal risk. I did that for you. And you can't let him say bye to Riya.

Raj: Fine. But I'll be in the same room. 

Abhi came an hour later, he went to Naina's room

Naina: I am sorry Abhi. Raj needs my assurance. He has been manipulated by Lala.

Abhi: It's OK. I need to give you something important. This flash drive contains all the evidence we have collected against Lala... please keep this safe. I know you are writing up the documentation for the court case. 

Naina: Thank you so much! Bye. Forgive me if you can. I know the restraining order caused a lot of reputational and career damage. And asking you to terminate all your rights on Riya was just hurting a raw wound. 

Abhi: Bye! Take care and stay safe. 

He left and went to Riya's room where Raj was sitting and playing with her.

Abhi: Riya!

Riya: Abhi uncle? They told me you were supposed to be my father but God chose dada to raise me! I love my dada and he loves me! He chose me...

Abhi: I know, beta. And you are lucky to have a great father.

Riya: You are nice too. I liked playing with you. We can play again

Abhi: I am going away. Take care beta!

Raj: Riya say bye to uncle!

Riya: Bye uncle!

Abhi walked away, feeling defeated. He had not expected much - but had cherished his rekindled friendship with Naina over the last few years, and being able to see his daughter grow up - from a distance. Now he had lost those things - because of Lala, and Raj.

Raj: Abhi wait!

Abhi: What?

Raj: This is my family! Always remember that.

Abhi: Just like you always wanted Naveen to be your best friend ONLY. Maybe because you have no family of your own you feel the need to clutch onto anyone who becomes part of your life. 

It hurt her a raw nerve for Raj

Raj: Enough! Leave...

Abhi: You are putting them in danger because of your blind faith in your father figure. 

Raj: I can keep my family safe. 

Abhi: I hope you can! For Riya's and Naina's sake. 

As Abhi left one of the guards called up Lala

Guard: He handed her something. A flash drive.

Lala: Get it from her. Raj needs to take Riya to a school PTM later today. She'll be alone at home, and pretty helpless. Get the drive.

Guard: What if she resists?

Lala: Kill her! Actually I'll do the job myself. We can always blame it on Abhimanyu Rai Chauhan.
