"Viviene."
I can't see. I'm gagged and tied to something. It feels..wooden. Maybe it's some kind of post. I'm cold.
"Viviene, wake up."
Who said that? The voice is soft but controlling. Female. In a blink of an eye, I put a name to the voice. Madame. I pick my head up and feel my face form a frown. Instinctively, I kick out to the direction of her voice, but my feet kick nothing but open air.
"Oh, dear. I guess we have to tie your feet too."
I try to scream, but all that comes out is an indistinguishable muffled sound. All is quiet. Seconds later, I feel my legs being moved and tied. I start thrashing and kicking at the person doing this, but it's as if they don't feel it. I am completely powerless.
"Now, Viviene, I'm going to take off your blindfold." Madame's clear voice is ringing through my head. I feel cold fingers on my face for an instant and I can finally see.
Now I'm wishing I couldn't.
I'm spread out on a bed. My arms and legs are each tied to a post on each side. I can't see beyond the bed, but I can tell the room is small because the air is stuffy. The bed is illuminated somehow, but everything else is pitch-black.
"Hello, Viviene. How kind of you to join us today." My eyes bulge out in the place her voice came from, but I can't see her. Is she for real?
I try to scream again and remember I can't.
"It's time for your first fornication test. I hope you studied well. Obviously, this test can't be retaken if you fail." My eyes widen as her words sink into the pit of my stomach and I realize what she means.
I am paralyzed with fear. I nervously start to feel the rope on my wrists with my fingers.
"Today, you will be joined by Mr. Robert Cohen. I will be watching to see how well you understood the format." I stare wildly at the darkness around me.
Faintly, I can notice a silhouette of a man coming toward me. His face becomes clear, and I recognize him as a boy from some of my classes. His face is contorted with sadness, anger, and fearfulness.
"You may begin. Good luck."
As he climbs on top of me, everything goes dark.
"Viviene! I won't be asking again for your attention!" I groggily pick my head up to see Madame standing over my desk, holding a ruler. For a moment I wonder where I am.
It was only a dream.
"If you fall asleep in my class one more time you will find yourself in detention, young lady!" I stumble an apology and look at the floor.
She tsks at me and walks back to the board, continueing her lesson on god knows what. I tune out and think back to the awful dream.
I feel eyes burning into my back and turn around to meet Eli's eyes. I grin at him and smiles back, but it doesn't reach his eyes. I face the board and see Robert Cohen staring at me as well. I flush automatically and play with my pen.
After class, I meet Eli in our bathroom and we spend our free period talking.
"So you've never gotten stoned before?" I ask in a fit of giggles.
He shoots me a dark glare. "Chirst, Vi, you're only fifteen. When did you have time to ever get stoned?"
"Oh, stop pouting. Unlike some people, I actually have fun in high school." I laugh. "I can too have fun in high school!"
"Oh, yeah? What's the baddest thing you've ever done?" I ask him and burst out laughing when he starts thinking.
"Well there was this one time where my buddies convinced me to drop a stink bomb in the principal's office." He looks proud of himself. "And...?" I trail off.
"And he was so pissed he almost had steam coming out of his ears." Eli grins at the memory. I picture a short, balding principal with a red face and steam coming out of his ears and grin too.
I suddenly realize how much I like talking to Eli. And how close we are right now. And how his lips look very kissable.
"Do you have a girlfriend?" I blurt out, and immideately cover my mouth. He looks stunned, but composes himself.
"No." He's staring at me. "Do you?"
I hesitate. "No, I don't have a girlfriend either." We burst out laughing. Soon enough, he's looking at me expectantly.
"Well, there was this one guy..." I notice the disappointment in Eli's face. "But he's gay!" I mentally slap myself. Ryan? Gay? Oh please. Saying that boy was gay is like saying the sun doesnt set.
Before I can say anything else, I see Eli smiling and I decide not to say anything. Before I can process what's going on, he starts leaning in slowly, as if he's unsure.
I feel giddy and can't stop myself before I lean in faster and kiss him. I wrap my hands around him. A moment later, he's kissing me back. I want to say something, but the second I open my mouth he takes over.
Before I know it, he's kissing my neck. Every touch and caress leaves a trail of shivers. He undoes one of the buttons on my blazer. I undo the rest and throw it on the floor, wearing a tank top now. I pull his shirt over his head and continue kissing him. I leave him a huge hickey and smile proudly to myself.
We both break apart, gasping for air. I smirk at him. "You know, you're not a bad kisser." I say between breaths.
He smirks back. "I've gotten that quite a couple times before." I bite my lip and reach for my blazer.
Five minutes later we're at my room, saying goodbye. I hug him, but as I start to pull away he doesnt let me go. "Vivienne, do you want to go out with me?" He lets me go, looking worried.
I open the door and take a step inside. I stare at his heavenly face and start to close it. My voice comes out as a whisper. "Yes."
His face breaks out into a grin and he does a small victory dance which ends in a triumphant fist pump into the air. I laugh.
"See you in class, secret boyfriend." I say seductively and shut the door in his face, proceeding to start jumping on my bed happily.
Later, when Gwen came in from the mess hall, I noticed her staring at me. "What?" I ask her.
"You look happy." She says, sounding almost accusing. I feel the grin slide off my face. "Gwen, what's wrong?" She sits on her bed, looking at the floor.
"What's wrong is that Aimee's gone." She says with tears in her eyes.
