My mouth felt dry as he spoke, his voice calm and even.
"Hello, my name is Dr. Alan Brown, but from the data I have just gotten, I presume that you already know that. By the fact that I've got connected to your system, I presume that the android I am looking for is with you."
I gulped as I realised that he had found us. Who knew what he could do now that he was connected to their system?
"You probably think: What am I doing here? You see, I want to make a deal. I don't want to destroy your hard work seeing that you don't know anything that would be a threat for me or my company. But that's only if you give me Stephanie. If I get her, I'll leave you and the other androids alone to do whatever you want. But if not, I'll make sure that all of your current data and personal information will either get deleted or released."
He paused for a moment.
No one said anything. Everyone looked at the screen, their eyes wide with either fear or confusion. Someone turned to Paul, but he was busy trying to cut the signal between the system and whatever Alan used to make contact to the base.
"And if you still don't want to hand her over," Alan continued.
"I'm sure that I can change her mind."
His words made my heart skip a beat, and my breath hitched.
"Stephanie," he began, "I got your friend. What was her name again?" he pursed his lips, before he smiled in fake realisation.
"Ah. Eve that's right."
My face immediately fell by his words.
No.
"She isn't feeling well. Turned out that her chip somehow has gotten damaged. But don't worry. I can help her. But only if you hand yourself over."
The picture changed to a picture of a very scared Eve. She was sitting in the corner of a completely white room, hugging her knees while she looked frantically around the room. Her eyes were filled with terror and confusion, her body trembling with fear. Sometimes, her head would twitch in a weird way, making her blonde hair fall in front of her eyes.
I clenched my hands in anger. But I didn't get to watch her more, before the picture turned back to Alan, who seemed to be looking directly at me.
"You'll find me at the same address as you met up on yesterday. Think about it, Ste- "
He didn't finish the sentence, when I felt the wires getting jerked out of my neck and the signal was cut. The light was back, and the screens quickly turned back to their original videos and numbers.
Everyone was quiet, then the room exploded in talking. That was when I saw Ralph and William between the other men and women. They were walking in our direction, a worried expression filling every inch of their faces.
"Please tell me you have a plan," William said once they reached us.
"Does anyone know what data he was able to get access to?" Paul asked.
In his hands he was holding the wires there was once inside of my body.
"Almost everything, I guess. The only thing he don't have is what we got on the USB's," William sighed.
"This suck pretty bad," Ralph mumbled, rubbing his face.
"Okay," Paul sighed, licking his lips, "so, everything except the codes and our blueprints."
"What about the data from the people in this building?" Sam asked, joining the conversation, "does he have them?"
"He does," William frowned, "but at least, he doesn't have much. We have always been great to make sure that our personal information's was kept away from the system in case something like this happened."
