We rode on top of Giyu, making our way back to the school.

"So, why do you think that Shinsu person called you the Archmage? Are you really the Archmage?" Raiden asked.

"Um, I'm not too sure myself actually..." I responded.

"Well, you did use multiple types of magic, you've been using Summoning, and your defensive magic, and all of a sudden you used fire magic, like Raiden's." Mitsu commented.

It then occurred to me that Mitsu had also been using two types of magic.

"Mitsu, you've been using healing magic, and enhancement magic, so maybe you are the Archmage?" I suggested.

"Yeah, I guess you are right there, but besides these two, I don't think I've tried using any other types of magic. Maybe I am just one of the gifted magicians we learned about, but I truly feel you are the Archmage." Mitsu responded.

"Yeah, remember when we first began training, Mitsu and I lost our magic fairly quickly, but you seemed to have a much larger pool of magic then us. So unless you'd been learning magic as a child somehow, you are probably the Archmage!" Raiden continued.

"No, I've never been taught magic as a child, but, I am still having trouble processing this. We will have to see what the teachers say, I guess." I replied.

With that, the conversation ended. The rest of the way back to the school was spent in utter silence.

*****************************

Upon arrival at the school, we headed through the main gates and all of a sudden the whole room spun around me, and we were standing in front of the Archmage, in the main office of the school. In the office there was a desk, a fancy wood-carved chair and seats for the visitors. Surrounding the room sat bookshelves filled with tons of books, and a little flower on a desk towards the clear window.

Beyond the window I could see trees of many different trees with red, orange and yellow leaves. Strange, we arrived here at the school while the sun was setting, and now it is day time. I then looked at the Archmage, who was smiling. He wore his normal purple robes and cape, though he was not wearing his hat, and I could see his long gray hair which went down to his back.

"What...happened?!" Raiden asked, sounding very confused. We were all confused.

"I have finished examining you guys, that's what happened." He responded.

"What do you mean?" Mitsu asked.

"You three were never really on a mission, it was all just an illusion. A powerful magic if used correcly, and will only-"

"Will only work if those you use it on aren't strong enough to see through it." Mitsu interrupted.

"Yes, you are the smart one out of your group," He chuckled.

"Wait, then why did we do all of that? Why did you make us go through such an illusion?!" Raiden snapped.

"Hah, you did not really think we'd send a bunch of rookies to go off on a dangerous mission, without adequate training, now would? The purpose of this was to test how well you would do on an actual job. Don't worry, I now know you three are reliable and hold much promise."

"What if we died during the mission, or illusion, or whatever it was?!" Raiden asked.

"If you had died during the illusion, you'd merely wake as you did now."

"I had a feeling someone was watching us during the mission, but, I assumed it was the Necromancer, Shinsu, but it was really you, wasn't it?" I asked.
