Akko POV
The Samhain Festival was coming up and I knew what job I'll be given. I was actually excited to repeat it despite the fact that I know I'm going to get eaten. But there's give and take to any eventful day.
Sucy was a little more excited than usual. I had a feeling I know why but that was Sucy's business not mine.
Diana was head of the planning committee like last time. Diana did a really good job last time and since it technically is that time I know nothing could possibly go wrong. I was walking down the hall when I saw the mirror room.
I entered more out of nostalgia than anything else. Last time that mischievous mirror made fun of my insecurities and turned me into a Diana doppelganger. I eventually came across the same mirror.
I watched as my reflection crossed her arms and smirked.
"Long time no see Akko." Said my reflection
"Wait how, oh certain magical items still retain the memories of the other timeline." I said mainly to myself
"Congratulations, you're a genius." Said the reflection sarcastically
"Hey don't even try it. I've come a long way since we last spoke. It'll be a lot harder to pick on me now." I defended myself
"Oh whatever shall I do? Oh I know."
In a flash the reflection changed to Diana's. However when Akko looked at herself she was unchanged. She looked back to the mirror bracing herself for what the mirror had in-store for her.
"Why would I ever want to be with someone like you!?" Said the reflection pointing an accusatory finger at her.
"Do you really think I, Diana Cavendish school prodigy, from a prestigious magic family, would what to be with someone as incompetent and non magical as you!?" The reflection continued
The mirror really wasn't pulling any punches today.
"Hey stop that, you don't even sound like Diana." I argued
"Face it Akko, you'll never be worthy of someone like Diana. The relationship is doomed to fail if you continue to pursue her. You're nothing compared to her." The reflection smirked
I covered my ears and closed my eyes, I didn't want to hear this. But the thought had already taken root.
"Shut up!" I shouted
I felt a warm had softly touch my shoulder. When I looked up Diana was looking at me with noticeable concern.
"Akko are you alright?" She asked
Her blue eyes helped me forget about some of the things the mirror said but they were still there.
"I'm better now, thanks." I answer
"Who were you talking to?"
I looked at the mirror to see our normal reflections. Diana followed my gaze to the mirror. I think she understood because she was scowling at the mirror.
"You should really be more careful around magic items in the future. Some can do a lot of harm, including that mirror." She said as she guided me out of the room.
"All it did was pick on my insecurities." I explained
Diana look to be in thought before giving the mirror a quick glance. She looked back to me and said.
"Whatever the mirror said, it simply isn't true." Diana assured me.
But for some reason I felt like the mirror was right.
