TUESDAY AFTERNOON. My eyes were glued to my phone screen as I read over the texts that Luke had sent me. I swear he hadn't let ten minutes pass in between texting me for the last hour. Even when I didn't answer, he kept sending them.
/ Luke /
isn't it fun that we can text now?
i don't have to try and telepathically pick up on your messages
i'm sad i won't see you today ... in a friend way!
the guys told me that they'd like to hang out w/ you more
i'm supposed to avoid texting so much in a row, aren't i?
Luke—I'm at work. I can't really text.
you answered !
that's okay. i'll just leave you messages. i wouldn't want you to lose track of what i'm doing
right now i'm watching the news
but the bad kind of news—the one that's always talking about me ;)
and now they're talking about you ... 😨
but mystery girl version of you
OH ! now they're talking about interviewer version you
you're so popular
Luke.
yes? 😇
Don't you have something better to do?
ouch, that hurts! i'm just trying to keep in touch.
there's a video going viral of me looking at you during the interview... i guess i'm not as slick as i think i am 😅
"Who in the world is texting you today?" My head whipped in the direction of Emma's voice and I sighed quietly as I sat my phone down on my desk. It vibrated as soon as it hit the surface and I closed my eyes in slight irritation. Part of me was happy about Luke sending me a bunch of texts, just because I thought it was fun and silly of him. But a larger part of me wished he would leave me alone so I could get work done.
