THURSDAY EVENING. After a successful day of shooting for the new segment, Emma and I decided to leave work early. I was feeling especially tired so I wanted to rest before seeing Luke tonight. We had plans to hike later, hoping to catch the sunset at the perfect moment.
The plans we had started to make were only going to make me fall harder for Luke, I knew that, but why not be totally enthralled with him by the time he left me for four months? I think it was a healthy, not at all depressing idea.
I unlocked the door to my apartment in a swift motion as I walked up to the door and the second I stepped in, I physically felt the environment of the apartment calm me. The walk-in area had been tidied up and I started to furrow my brows as I continued walking further in, after closing the door behind me.
I peeked into the living room to see it looking spotless—the throw pillows and blankets were nicely placed, just how I liked them. I walked into the kitchen and continued to be surprised at the cleanliness. I slowly sprouted a smile as I remembered that Luke had told me he would clean up before going out to buy our groceries.
I couldn't have possibly expected this.
I walked up to the island to see a slip of paper and I picked it up before beginning to read it.
Jos, I sort of got carried away before leaving. I wanted you and Madalyn to be able to come home without worrying about anything. The fridge is stocked, the cabinets too. There are a couple of random things on your bed that I found laying around while cleaning up, because I didn't know where else to put them. I left you something in there as well. I hope work went well today and I can't wait to see you later today :) I still have your key, so just remind me to give it back when you see me tonight.

The second I finished reading Luke's note, I left the kitchen and made my way to my room. To my surprise, Luke had seemed to clean up my room a little. Not entirely, but the bed was made and everything seemed to be in a specific place. Except for the small pile of random items on my bed, just as he had warned me. Next to the pile, however, was a small rectangular box. I placed the letter down on my bed before picking the box up and slowly opening it. The box contained two tickets, seeming to be for an art museum located downtown. I smiled at the thought of looking at art with Luke by my side before immediately frowning.
