this is a short chapter BUT hopefully a couple of u will appreciate it ... i am sorry if it does not live up to your 'to be continued' expectations

THURSDAY, A.M. I woke up slowly and squinted my eyes as I realized there were lights on all around me. They weren't bright lights, but it was an unusual sensation. I blinked the sleep from my eyes and my head seemed to spin as I tried to figure out where I was.

It took me at least thirty seconds to realize that I was at Luke's apartment, in his living room, and lying on his couch. I turned my head to look over my shoulder and saw Luke lying in an uncomfortable-looking position just beside me.

We must've fallen asleep after I finished the article.

I quietly and slowly looked around for my phone and grabbed it once I laid my eyes on it. I inspected it and learned that it was just barely past two in the morning.

"Jesus," I whispered just before a yawn took over. Knowing I shouldn't stay there, I started to get off the couch in hopes that I could sneak away and down to my car. I moved slowly in hopes not to wake Luke—I had been lying on top of him, basically, so the task was not simple.

Just as I made it to a standing position, Luke began to stir and I sighed quietly as I sat back down. I waited for him to wake up, planning to let him know that I was going to head out and that I was sorry for falling asleep.

I couldn't help but smile at the confused look on Luke's face as he started to wake up, and I tried not to laugh as he went through the process of figuring out what had happened. He looked up at me and let out a breathy laugh as he brought his hands up to his eyes.

"I don't think we can stay away from each other, Jos," Luke commented, making my stomach do a flip. I bit the inside of my cheeks and cleared my throat before saying something.

"I'm sorry—I should've left once I was done with the article. I should head home," I told Luke as I started to stand up again. Luke simply grabbed onto my arm and tugged gently, indicating he'd like me to sit down again.

"Josie, it's so late. Just stay the night," he insisted which caused my eyebrows to furrow. "It's late and I don't want you driving. There's no reason to possibly put yourself in danger when I don't mind you staying here. You can have my bed... I can just stay here on the couch." Luke thought up a plan and I bit my lip gently as I thought to myself.

I was happy Luke was okay with me staying, but I felt myself wanting more from him. I couldn't help but think about how nice it would be to fall asleep next to him.
