Kiara’s POV
It’s been two weeks since Luke and Michael came over to my house and I’ve been killing my brain trying to remember the slightest thing from that party. Obviously I was drunk and so was Charlotte’s dad but I didn’t think I was that drunk to not even remember who I went into the bedroom with.
I’ve been trying to avoid Luke at all costs because there is a possible chance that he is Charlotte’s dad. I’ve been catching up with Michael almost every day and it’s been quite fun. We text each other non-stop and I think Charlotte loves him more than she loves me. It’s quite sad I know.
I was in the kitchen making lunch for Charlotte when there was a knock at the door. I ran over to the door and quickly opened it, only having regretted that decision once I saw who was standing there.
“H-hey Luke, what’s up?” I asked.
“Can I come inside please, I think we need to talk” he replied. I swallowed the lump that was in my throat and moved out of the way for him to come in.
We walked into the kitchen and I went back to making lunch for my baby girl.
“What did you wanna talk about?” I asked, cutting the crust off the sandwich.
“I wanted to talk about that photo” he said.
“Hold on, Charlotte lunch is ready!” I called. She came running into the kitchen with dirt on her face and muddy hands. She was giggling like crazy and I couldn’t help myself so I laughed at her.
“Mummy look, I’m a monster!” she yelled, pulling a scary face. I pretended to be scared and she burst out laughing.
“Ok my little monster. Here’s your sandwich so go and sit down at the table and eat it. She nodded and grabbed the plate out of my hands.
I turned back to Luke and he was just staring at me.
“Take a picture, it will last longer” I said sarcastically. He playfully rolled his eyes and smirked at me.
“As I was saying…after I left your house that day, I went back home and searched through everything in my room. I knew which party that photo was taken at because I could faintly see the Happy 16th Allison in the background. Was it Allison Dawson’s 16th?” he asked. I nodded my head and he continued. “I was at that party too! The girl that I ended up hooking up with came home with me that night and we had sex. In the morning when she woke up she was in such a hurry that she forgot her phone at my house. Of course her phone was locked so I couldn’t get any info about the chick, but I kept the phone. Anyway when I was searching my room, I came across the phone and I thought you might know anyone whose phone it could be. Maybe they might know who you were with that night” he said.
He pulled the phone out of his pocket and I gasped. That looked exactly like my old phone that I lost when I was 16. I didn’t want to say anything just in case Luke was Charlotte’s father. I wasn’t ready to have a man being around here full time and I wasn’t quite sure that maybe things could go too fast and he might want to move in.
“Umm that phone does look familiar but I don’t know whose it is” I lied.
“Oh ok” he said and walked to the door.
“Where are you going?” I asked.
“I have band rehearsal. I’ll see you later” and with that he was out the door. I let out a loud sigh before going back into the kitchen and sitting with Charlotte at the table. Why is everything so complicated?
