Paws padded softly against the damp ground. You were silent, or you thought that you were silent. Your prey hadn't moved so you had a feeling he didn't know you were there. You looped your prey a couple of times to throw him off about exactly where you were creeping up to him from. You were hunched close to the ground trying your best to blend in with the forest that surrounded you.
Your (H/C) fur flattened against your body making you as small as possible, your (E/C) eyes narrowed in, focussing on your prey, he was sat there looking unamused and bored. Finally you crept closer and closer until you were a short leap away, knowing this you leaned back on your haunches, your ears tilting back.
Finally you snapped. Your muscles pushed your body and you flew through the air, a triumphant smirk on your face at your catch. Unfortunately, you celebrated to early. Your prey easily moved out of your way and you ended up falling into dirt which coated your fur and made you feel rather disgusting, you shook like a dog trying to remove it but the mud held fast.
"Circling me wasn't very clever brat, and your jump was extremely arching and not very direct, this meant that I could get out of the way" Levi sounded smug as he spoke about you missing him for the fifth time today.
You felt Levi nose the top of your head as you grumbled "this is impossible".
"No, it's only hard for you because you didn't learn this from a young age like normal. It's proven that the younger you are the easier it is to learn something. You'd also usually be with the rest of the pack right now learning on the chase" he explained sitting.
"I guess you want me to do this again then" you stood, walking off into the bush.
"This time come from down-wind. That way I won't be able to smell you as easily" he said as you disappeared.
*Time Skip*
You did as Levi suggested, the breeze was very light but you quickly identified which way it was coming from. You looped around Levi trying to find the way that the wind would be blowing against you. You could smell Levi in the wind and you could understand what he meant by being able to smell you hunting him.
You couldn't see him yet, but you could smell him so you followed that to his location. Unlike last time where you would just guess. You were silent this time, contemplating every step. You tucked your tail into your body so that it wouldn't catch on anything that you make a noise. You fur once again flattening against you.
Finally, once again, you could see Levi unamused and bored. Cocky bastard. You thought. You jumped pouncing on him but he moved out of the way... again. You didn't face plant the ground this time, actually landing on your feet since you expected the pitch black wolf to move.
Levi turned fast and tackled you to the floor getting you even muddier "Lazy jump. You didn't give it your all, it's like you were expecting to miss me"
"It's hard to not expect to lose, especially when I'm hunting you of all people... uhh... wolves." you frowned "you also haven't demonstrated anything to me, you haven't shown me how to do this you just sent me out into the brush telling me to try and take you down, so of course I don't expect to win"
"Fine then if you want a demonstration I'll give you one" he frowned to match your own "sit and stay still".
Saying that he got off you and then walked off, blending instantly into the first row of foliage. You gulped nervously about what you could have possibly gotten yourself into. Now he was hunting you.
*3rd Person POV*
The grey wolf huffed in annoyance, (Y/N)'s smell had not crossed his nose since he had found a home in this muddy tree and ground made cave. He worried that the pack had discovered his whereabouts and told Levi not to bring (Y/N) back to the pack, but this made no sense. They would have come to attack and kill him since he was in their territory, if they knew he was here they would have driven him out by now.
Unfortunately the muddy damp ground that was covering his scent would also cover hers if she was far away, usually he would have smelt her by now and know exactly where she was. But it was this little sacrifice or his life so it wasn't like he really had a choice in the matter.
This also made him question Levi's motives. Levi hadn't told the pack or co-alpha about his presence, he had wondered, since he tried to take (Y/N). Why he never said anything. If he told the pack, they could back up Levi and kill the imposter before he could hurt or steal (Y/N).. It seemed Levi wanted to face the old scared wolf alone, like he made a claim on his revenge.
The grey wolf smirked at Levi's stupidity, fighting him alone and not telling the pack could get someone killed, more specifically Levi himself killed. But this worked favourably for the grey wolf, even though Levi had grown the grey wolf was still bigger. Once he got a hold of Levi he would have no chance. Speed against Power, and the grey wolf liked his odds.

In the open area, the Black Wood pack were now on high alert. Their alpha had been catching small whiffs of an unidentified scent. The (H/C) alpha stayed in the pack, usually he would go out and search for the owner of the scent, but without Levi he was stuck looking after the pack as if it was a threat he would be there to chase it away.
When Levi got back it would be the second thing he did, after greeting and re-bonding with (Y/N) of course. But these were dire times and time was not currently on their side. Sitting back and lifting his head the (H/C) alpha let out a loud echoing howl trying to call for Levi and his pack members.
It was imperative that Levi knew how much trouble the pack was in...
