It was my responsibility to keep the children safe. I didn't care if I get hurt, I just can't put them in danger. But as I waited for the wooden planks to fall on me, it never came and I didn't feel anything fall on me.

What I did feel, was warmth around me. And as I slowly looked up, my eyes widened when I saw him.

y/n: "M-Mr. Jeon!?"

I was shocked to see that he was the one protecting us from the wooden planks falling on us. It must've been painful, but he showed no sign of it. He looked at me for a few seconds until he averted his attention to Angie who still had her eyes shut.

Mr. Jeon: "It's okay, Angie. You can open your eyes now."

The way he spoke was the softest I've ever heard of him. I never thought I could ever see this side of him. And as Angie opened her eyes and saw Mr. Jeon reaching his hand out to her, she quickly ran into his arms instead and started crying.

Angie: "I-I was so scared!"

She was shaking as she spoke, and I saw that Mr. Jeon was caressing her head to console her.

Mr. Jeon: "Everything's going to be alright, Jungkookie oppa is here"

At this moment, the sight that I witnessed right in front of me warmed my heart as I couldn't stop smiling. Mr. Jeon right now was someone completely different... in a good way.

As we began walking back, Mr. Jeon carried Angie on his back as I quietly walked beside them.

Angie: " Jungkook oppa, how did you know we were in there?"

Angie starts asking him whose face went back to the same old expressionless look.

Mr. Jeon: "Because I heard my little soulmate calling for me from far away"

He replies, making Angie chuckle.

Angie: "What was that? So cheesy!"

As Angie was speaking to him, I could've sworn I saw a slight smile appear on his face.

Angie: "Oppa..."

Mr. Jeon: "Hm?"

Angie: "Were you very worried about me when you couldn't find me during hide and seek?

She asks.

Mr. Jeon: "Are you sure you didn't do that because you wanted me to pay more attention to you?"

As he said that, she went quite and sighed.

I guess he also knows a lot about Angie as well. After all, she meant a lot to him.

Angie: "It's because nobody ever pays attention to me. They don't notice that I'm gone or alone"

Angie explains, saddening my heart.

Angie: "You're the only person who ever cared if I was missing or alone"

Her voice got quieter as she spoke, but Mr. Jeon knew exactly how to answer.

Mr. Jeon: "That's  not true. Everyone cares about you, they just don't really know how to show it. Believe me, your friends at the orphanage care a lot about you"

Angie: "I guess you're right"

She rests her chin on his shoulder as she looks down at the ground.

Angie: "Oh! One of your shoelaces are untied!"

She says, pointing at Mr. Jeon's left shoe.

What he said next surprised me.

Mr. Jeon: "Then will you tie it for me like you tied it for y/n?"

No way... was he there the whole time?

Shortly after Angie tied Mr. Jeon's shoelaces, she gave him a hug and that's when the other children and sunny arrived.

The children: "Angie!"

They all yelled her name as they came running up to her and pulled her into a group hug.

Eunsung: "Where were you!? We were so worried about you and thought we'd never see you again!"

Everyone could see that Eunsung tried his hardest not to let out any tears. It ended up making us all laugh.

Angie: "I'm sorry everyone, I promise that I won't worry you again like today!"

She promised and hugged Eunsung. Then the rest of the children joined in on the hug.

At their age, what could a child want more than just another's presence?

Of course they need their warmth as well as comforting words to make them believe that they're worth it.
