It's 5pm here. I was dressing up in jeans and blouse with a casual coat. I'm going out tonight and go to this barbeque place in the city. I've heard that the barbeque is great here. Then, I'll go to the museum to give myself a tour before I go back to my hotel. I was in my sneakers and got my little backpack when my phone vibrated for a call.
I then picked it up, "Hello?"
"Little sis?" Luke said, making me smile. Luke has been my neighbor since forever. And we are so close that he treats me as his sister and I treat him as my brother (even if we're roughly the same age).
"Hi big bro. What's up? Long time no see."
"Where are you? Are you at a friend's? I'll come pick you up. People are looking for you."
"Uh, I'm actually in... the Philippines."
"WHAT?"
"Big bro-"
"Since when?"
I giggled with his reaction while locking the door of my hotel room, "Weeks ago."
"Lil sis... Why you're giggling? Don't you know that you'll go nosebleed at times? Just... come home."
"No can do."
"Why not?"
"I still have to go to New Zealand."
"WHAT? But-"
"Bye big bro." I decided to hang up and smiled. I know that Luke will find ways to convince me to come home. But I had my decision. I'm touring this place for weeks before leaving for New Zealand.
My name is Florence Pugh. And yes, I left weeks ago without my family's knowledge. You see, I don't really like them. I started becoming the family's black sheep in my high school years and since then, I started going away from them, which started from town to town, state to state, then country to country.
I chose Philippines for it's one of the farthest places from home (aside from New Zealand). And, well, they say that Philippines is a beautiful place. So touring around this place won't hurt right? And guess what? I decided to tour this city in the Philippines named Ormoc for weeks before touring Bacolod City then go to Manila to book a flight going to New Zealand.
Tonight, I walked from my hotel (Villa Hotel) to the Ormoc Barbeque Place near the Ormoc Bay to have dinner. As I arrived, I immediately ordered barbeque with rice and a soft drink. As I waited for my order, I sat on a single table and saw a family eating and laughing together 5 tables across from me. That happened a long time ago, I thought. Now, it's gone. No one loves me that way anymore.
I tried to avoid crying by distracting myself in another way such as staring into the bay, watching the sunset and just think about going to the museum later and what it may look like when I go there. As I had my order, I began eating and left after paying the cashier, trying to think that it's going to be alright.
I'm not gonna cry tonight.
I mean, what could go wrong?
