FALLING.Percy could feel the wind sweep under his feet like a counter-attack from Annabeth. The feeling of weightlessness hits for a split second, making you believe you will float, or even land on your feet once more. Yet falling was something that even the strongest of gods feared. The emotion you feel when the actions come is like the bliss of utter pain. Pain in which you respond by saying: I'm going to die. Annabeth felt this, she felt the pressure of surviving fall on her shoulder just like she was holding the sky up once more. She could see it in Percy's eyes that he was unresponsive. For falling to Percy was less important right now. All he could feel was the pain that came from memories of life.
Annabeth has known since the day she met Percy that adventure will follow. What she didn't know as she does now was that it wasn't an adventure that followed Percy as the stars do to the moon; it was danger. The plague that once strutted behind Percy is now leading him. For it was winning at the moment and had destroyed the heroine from the inside. They were going to fall to their death, and this time there was going to be no river to save them.
All Percy could hear was the wind, the wind that sounded like Zeus's voice, that sounded like Poseidon's. It fueled his emotions in a way that stopped him from understanding the predicament he was in. PTSD was a killer in a way that took away your senses and placed you in the past to relive your deepest regrets and trauma. Percy had a lot of trauma that continued to pile up on him like an avalanche. Then he felt it, for a split second a warmth rushed through his body like a fire that begun to burn brightly. He remembers this feeling as if it was yesterday for he knows this comfort all too well.
―It's okay to cry Percy, that's part of growing up.
His eyes snapped open quickly as he remembered those words from long ago, "Mom." His voice was soft enough to be untouched by anyone else's ears.
If anyone could save Percy from his own self, it was Sally Jackson. His mother who cherished and raised him to be the man he was today. His trust and loyalty to his mother were unlike anything the gods could have seen, for a son's love for his mother is one of the strongest bonds to ever be made. It's been years since Percy had even seen his mother, and that was because of the constant hovering fear of his own Son's life. It was better to stay away from his mother to protect her, seeing as Percy didn't want to end up killing his baby sister as he did with his own son.
Loki felt the small tumors pulsing through the ship while walking out of the glass cage. Stopping mid-step the god smirked, "I underestimated you, Percy." Preparing for the arrival of his brother Loki moved to stand by the controls in the room, "But I still have time." It didn't matter too much if Percy blew his fuse here or not. It would have helped his plans succeed in the long run, but there was still the grand finale.
Taking in the situation, Percy took out riptide and uncapped it quickly using the momentum of his fall to stab the sword into the runway. Now that he wasn't falling or sliding anymore, the son of Poseidon grabbed Annabeth's hand before she could slide past him. The two looked at each other for a moment, both seemingly reading each other's eyes. Having to fight side by side for many years of your life builds a bond with someone that no one could understand. Though their romance was over, their friendship was still there.
Annabeth looked around quickly analyzing how much the Helicraft is tilting, "If we were able to come up with a water source, will you be able to hold up the ship!"
Following Annabeth's glaze, Percy was able to see what Annabeth meant by water source. Their before was one of the many bolted-down water jugs for emergencies on the deck. Would one be enough? Percy looked around to spot the others only to find a few, most of the jugs must have been caught in the crossfire of explosions and falling ships. Does he have the power to keep the ship afloat? He never tried to keep something so big from falling out of the sky, sure he kept helicopters and jets from hitting houses but he had lakes and rivers as his power source, and he never had to keep the objects in the air.
Looking back at his ex-wife he gave a nod, "If you can open enough of them in time." That was a lie, he didn't know if he'll be able to do it, but it was worth a try. This was the first time he'll be doing this, but that doesn't mean he couldn't, right?
Annabeth began to get her feet in a stable position, "Okay, first you'll need to help swing me over to the first one. From there I'll handle opening them; you just have to get closer to the edge of the propeller." Agreeing with Annabeth's plan, Percy got ready to swing her across.
With that Percy and Annabeth's might together we're able to get Annabeth close to the water jug, enough in which she wouldn't go falling off the aide of the helicraft. Not staying in place for long, Annabeth moved the rest of the way to the jug, barely missing a falling container that skitted past. She looked at the bolted-down water jug for a split second to find where the lid was. Her hands gripped onto the lever as if it was the only thing keeping her up, positions her legs, she pulled the lever all the way around before it opened. Some water splashed on her as it opened for the ship was almost all the way sideways but she didn't let that stop her. With determination fueling her to save everyone on the helicraft, the daughter of Athena made pace to the other jugs that still remained.
Looking below him the son of Poseidon watched as many types of equipment fell past him all sliding off the edge. His ocean green eyes swirled with conflict yet they were focused on the broken propeller below him. Forcing riptide out of the side of the craft, Percy started to fill down with everything else. His eyes never dared to blink as the wind seem to swish past sounding like screams of the dead. His feet skitted against the floor trying to slow the pace of his fall. As he was about to slide off the side like everything around him, the demigod quickly flipped himself over and gripped onto the metal railing that remained.
Hearing the loud clatter of a plane falling above, the warrior launched himself into the hole of the propeller on the side of him. The plane fell off the edge right after the sea child, destroying the railing the man was on moments before. His breathes beat thankfully at the thought of his quick thinking. Now faced with the broken remains of the propeller before him, Percy could see all the body of agents of each side dead from a battle minutes before.
It was time for his powers to be put to the teat after so long. Looking at the sky below him, Percy knew what was needed to be done.
"Percy, Now!"
