Kim Nam-Joon was tired of petty arguing with Jeongguk every evening. His solution is always to put full attention into video games and ignore the arguments, but all he wanted this time was to leave. In the middle of their arguing, he adjusts his jacket and putten on his glasses and shoes. He left, slamming the door without saying a word.
Chao-xing was sitting at the front desk trying to finish fixing her cousin's computer; pushing the doors open, a charming guy enters the cafe. This very moment she froze up from the shock.
'Here, he is right across from me. The only thing that was separating us is the sales counter.' She thought to herself
He looked very down while pulling out his membership card to give her, assuming she was the worker.
"Here is my card," He says
Her fingers were on a keyboard, typing rapidly; all she was trying to do was finish setting up a security program. She takes the card, pretending to type in the card number without thinking, knowing that not what she is supposed to do.
She used what she thought was the most attractive voice telling him, "You are welcome to find any open computer to play."
He walked away to the computer but kept looking back to look at her having a small smile, whispering to himself, "Why are there so many weirdos here at this hour?"
She gave up on doing her work and stared at Kim Nam-Joon while sneakingly making ramen behind the counter, hoping her cousin won't see her. She walked up nervously, shaking, spilling some noodles; she finally gets to his table.
Hardly kneeling, she says, "Excuse me, this is a late-night meal."
He was wearing the headset that perfectly matched him in which he didn't hear. When Chao-xing tapped him on his shoulder, he got scared and shrugged, almost jumping up.
"Umm... sorry, I didn't mean to scare you... Umm, this is a late-night meal," She tried to say in the cutest voice but ended up having the worst vocal.
"It's okay... I should apologize. I was way too into the game," He replies, smiling.
"What game is that?" She asks without knowing anything about gaming
"Overwatch... This is my way of relaxing," He replies fastly.
"Oh...Umm, Well, I have to get to work ."She replied, getting his hint
She sat down at the sales counter, watching him while upset that she couldn't have the conversation she had planned in her head. When her cousin notices she looks different when it suddenly hits him. He realizes that she has attracted to that guy.
He teases her, "Go up to him"
"No, I can't; it's clear he is busy," She replies.
"He's playing video games. What can he be busy with" He cousin gives her a speech
"Maybe he is relaxing after a long day," She tells him.
Before her cousin answers, Kim Nam-Joon comes to the counter, asking for a can of soda. She goes fast to get it.
"How much is it?" He asks, pulling out his wallet
She was about to say, "It's free..." When her cousin interrupted her and said, "It's a dollar."
She signaled with her eyes, but he ignored her. To Kim Nam-Joon, it just looked like a couple can't decide on a price. Their conversation ended just like that, and all her hopes were gone.
He kept looking on his phone and then left before the time he paid expired. He forgot to get his membership card back.
"Excuse me... Excuse me," she ran out, catching him.
"You forgot your card," She says, awkwardly holding on to his arm.
"Thank you. Make sure your boyfriend takes good care of you. It's pretty dangerous working here," He says, looking down at her hand holding on.
She releases his arm before she could reply to him. He turns around and leaves.
Chao-xing said to herself, "At least he looks relieved than before I saw him"
That the only thing that made her happy. She returns to the sales counter, trying to finish up her work when her cousin keeps trying to talk to her, but she kept ignoring him.
"He didn't even notice me" She suddenly whins to him.
"Calm down; he is not even cute. He's probably another creep." He tells her
"What? He is the cutest guy I have ever seen. Have you seen that dimple and those glasses" She goes on
"I know how to help you," He says proudly. "We can check what game he played, and maybe you can join him," He suggests
"But I don't know anything about video games," She kept whining.
"No worries, I'll teach you," He says
Once they find out what game he played and his username through a webcam, she starts practicing playing the game before requesting to play with him.
