A small smile swept across my lips as I recalled the days when we just got here. Time sure as hell flew pass fast. Averting my gaze to the rest whom where busy grilling their chicken, I untentionally released a soft chuckle before shifting it back to the beautiful dark sky. They were barely any stars that night but the silvery moon above was bright. If only people could see the beauty in life, and not the worst in it.
I jolted up from my short daze as a pair of arms wrapped itself around my waist. I didn't have to turn around to know it was Jude. "What'cha thinking about beautiful?" Jude rested his chin on my shoulders, his voice coming out as a whisper as I shuddered when his hot breath touched my bare neck. Keeping it cool, I shrugged, turning to face him with a huge grin on my face, "Life" I whispered, leaning in to peck his cheeks before tugging his arms to released me. I stood infront of him, holding his face in my tiny palm as he eyed me, his brows furrowing in what I assume is concern. "What's wrong?"
"You know that we don't stay here forever right?" I asked, my eyes staring intently in his as he nodded uncertainly. Lowering my hand as it rested on his neck, I rubbed it gently. I knew the gesture relaxed him but, I guess not. His frown deepened, if that was even possible. I watched as he grabbed the hand rubbing his neck in his, clutching onto it tightly. "I don't get where this is going Mia" He uttered, shaking his head. Flashing him a smile, I stepped towards him, closing the gap between us and encircling my arms around his back. Leaning against his chest, I could hear the loud thumping of his heart. My smile broadened, knowing I too, had an effect on him. "What will happen after this Jude?" I asked in a quiet voice, slightly cracking. I heard him sigh as I felt a tight grip on my shoulders, making me pull away.
"Nothing's going to change Mia, I promise" I watched as his eyes glow in pure determination, making the weight on my shoulders slightly lighter. "But we have a whole life ahead of us Jude, thing's can change, feelings can change. I have to go to college. You have to go to college. It won't be easy" I breathed out, turning away from him, suddenly feeling hot tears forming in my eyes. "Are you doubting my feelings for you?" Almost instanteneously, I faced him, my eyes widen at the his words laced with evident anger. I took a step towards him, making him took a step backwards. "Jude" I breathed out, attempting to reach out for him but instead, he slapped it away and stormed towards his house. Lifting my gaze to meet the others worry look, I slumped my shoulder and released a long sigh. "Get him Mia" Cameron's voice snapped me back to reality as I smiled at him, making a run towards the same direction Jude went off.
I couldn't lose him. I don't want to lose him. I needed him, and I knew that he needed me too.
"Jude Gabriel Flynn" I yelled when I saw his figure. He stopped on his tracks, probably waiting for me to continue. I watched as his figure stiffened, and his hands curled into a tight fist. I closed the huge gap between us, still leaving some distance. "I never doubted your feelings for me" I whispered, looking down, suddenly feeling all the emotions suddenly crampling out of my lungs. "I know you loved me as much as I do. I'm just" I stopped when my voice cracked and a single tear ran down my cheeks. It must've sounded really hoarse that it made him turn around to face me, gaping. "I'm just afraid" I breathed out, barely audible but loud enough for him to catch on.
"I'm just afraid of the future" I sobbed, looking down to avoid his green hazel eyes. Suddenly, a finger grabbed on my chin, making me lift my head and meet his gaze. The coldness in those orbs were gone, replaced by a warm ones. "I know Mia, I'd be lying if I said I'm not afraid of the future" He trailed off, his lips slowly curved into a beautiful wide smile. "But whatever happens, in the future, I promise you that I would do anything and everything for you, for us. I love you Mia, and I never loved anyone so much before. I want to see you grow into a beautiful woman. I want to spent my whole lifetime with you" I stared at him, wondering what on earth did I do to deserve this guy. Nodding my head eagerly, I wrapped my arms around his neck, crushing my lips against his as he promptly wrapped his around my waist, closing all the gaps between us. Everything was so perfect, I just wished it would stay that way. But I knew it was impossible.
What's a life without a roller coaster ride?
As we pulled away, I clutched onto his arms, pulling him towards the barbecue side. Comfortable silence settled among us. I looked to my left and soften at the sight of him grinning to himself. Just as we were about to reach the others, I felt him halted on his tracks, making me halt too as I turned to face him with a questioning look. "College doesn't start in like 2-3 months, so until then let's just have the best time of our lifes alright?" Jude's eyes was filled with both sorrow and glee. Nodding at him, he leaned in to peck my forehead, at least that's what I thought, until I felt a soft jab on my forehead instead, making me stumble backwards. I glared at his retreating figure, as he stuck his tongue out at me. So we're playing, huh? Smirking, I nodded at him, feeling my legs working as well.
