"Mia, I need to talk to you"
Yawning, I shivered as the cold wind passed through me. Shoving my hands into the pockets of my sweatshirt, I head outside and ran to my car, hopping in without a second wasted. Turning on the heater, I released a sigh of relief as I slumped down in the seat, my gaze fixate onto th rear mirror, waiting for that certain someone.
After what seemed like forever, the passenger door pulled open, snapping me out from my daze. Cameron slammed the door, probably with too much force, as he finally laid his eyes on me and flashed a small smile. There was something about his smile that told me he wasn't feeling good. Maybe it was how it didn't reached his eyes, or maybe it was the dark circles surrounding them. Before I could ask about his well-beings, he insisted if we head out onto somewhere quieter and calmer. With a sigh, I nodded before pulling out of the driveway.
The whole drive was queit and I knew almost instantaneously, there was something seriously going on. Stealing glances every few minutes, I noticed Cameron face darkened. Having enough of the strain atmosphere, I pulled over. From the corner of my eyes, I could see his brows furrowed in confusion but his face was as dark as before. Nodding for him to follow, I got out of the car and jogged towards the trunk to grab my blankie that I always kept in there in case of emergency. Struggling to carry them towards the hood, I survived somehow. Climbing onto the hood of the car, I patted the space beside me for Cameron. Unlike me, he got onto the hood in ease.
Damn you long-legged people.
We sat in complete silence, after I threw the blanket over us. Taking a peek at him, I watched as his face scrunched up in what I presume to be disappointment. Inhaling an amount of breath, I gently placed a hand on his broad shoulders, giving it a light squeeze.
"I'm not even going to ask you if you're okay Cam, because obviously, you're not. What's wrong?" As those words left my lips, he shut his eyes closed, almost looking pissed but when he fluttered open, I could only see sorrow in them. "Roni hates me" He said, glowering at the floor. "What made you say that Cam. She does not-" "Yes she does!" My eyes widen, watching as he glared at me, his body stiffening. Maybe it was the terrified look in my eyes but he soften almost instantly. "I give up Mia" I gaped at him, as he massaged his forehead rather harshly.
"I love her, but why try when obviously there's no spark of hope" He whispered, gazing sadly at me. The look in his eyes made me crumbled on the inside. I cared for him, I loved him. I knew he was a nice guy, and I knew he deserved to at least be happy. Some part of me wanted to snap at him, to call him an ass for giving up on Roni that easily but then, I knew Roni more than anyone else in the world. Her ego's a size of a giant whale, literally. Even if it meant losing the people or things she loved, she won't ever back down on her actions, and words.
"I'm sorry, Cameron" I muttered, feeling a little down myself as I rubbed his back. "Maybe the two of you are just not meant to be. As mean as this sounds Cam, you deserved better" With that, Cameron broke into a chuckle, shaking his head at me before ruffling my hair. "You're probably right. What would I do without you Mia?" He asked, grinning at me. Shrugging, I hopped off the hood and held out my hands towards him as he threw me a look of uncertainty. "Let's go get some ice cream" I yelled excitedly, waving for him to get off the hood. "Are you kidding me?" Cameron asked, his tone sounded somewhat doubtful.
"It's 2 freaking am"

"I can't believe we're eating ice cream, at 2am, in the chilling cold" I giggled, shoving Cameron aside whom was also laughing at the ridiculously awesome idea. Shaking my head, I jumped in surprise when I felt my phone vibrating against my skin. Pulling it out of my back pocket, I answered it almost immediately when Jude's name flashed across the screen.
"Hello?" The other line went silence. Pulling the phone away from my ear to check if there's any signal (which there is), I called out to Jude again. A feeling of panic within me when I heard what appears to be groaning from the other side. "Jude?!" My eyes widen when a female voice came through.
"You think you can run away from me Judy? Maybe you should have tried harder like, I don't know. Flying over to France or maybe Germany" No. With shaking hands, I grabbed Cameron's shoulder which startled him, making him drop his ice cream. But I couldn't care less. Pressing it to loudspeaker, I motioned for him to listen. "Why can't you just leave me the fuck alone Theresa?! I am fucking sick of seeing your face and your presence!" A loud slam could be heard and afraid that she could have heard me, I threw a hand over my trembling mouth. She got him. And who knows what shes going to do to him.
"You're going to work for me Judy. Or else I would reveal to the whole entire world how much of a man-whore you are!" "Why here?! Why bring me to this old warehouse over at Fleet Street?!" Got it. Raising my head to meet Cameron's eyes, we both nodded, the look of determination swept across both our tired faces.Running into the car, Cameron proceeded on calling the others to meet us outside the warehouse as I stepped onto the pedal, the vision outside the window became blurry at the rapid speed. A hand rested on my shoulders, and as I looked over to the side, I saw Cameron flicking me an encouraging smile. "He's going to be fine Mia, don't worry" Nodding at him, I kept my eyes focused onto the road, my heart beat going faster than the vehicle.
I'm coming Jude. I'm coming.
