Hey guys! I apologize about the late update! I have been working on fixing some of the story because when I had first started writing Echo I believe I was still a senior in high school or had just graduated....oh well. There are some things I needed to fix! But I will do my best to stay on a decent schedule! I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe!

Also does anyone know how to add gifs? I want to add some but I do not know how to!

On another note! Thank you for taking the time to read my story! It means a lot to me! I love writing and I want to get better at it. I'd love to hear what y'all's thoughts on my story so far! Other than that, stay safe and thank you! :)

I felt like I was only asleep for a minute until I was rudely awakened. I forced my eyes open to find the source of the sound. Car alarms greeted my ears as I left the realm of sleep. I glanced around my room as I noticed the lights flickering on and off before staying off. One source of light quickly caught my attention. I towards the window seeing a bright light in the sky. My brain was fully awake, eyes widening with my mouth agape. "No...way."

I stumbled out of my comfortable bed, rushing towards the window that overlooked my family's back property. I thought I was dreaming – I must be dreaming. I slapped myself in the face, earning a stinging pain on my cheek. I muttered to myself, "Nope, I'm awake." There in the sky was something large and it seemed to be on fire. It was falling out of the sky. I watched as the unknown object finally disappeared behind the trees a few miles away from here. Once it disappeared a thunder like sound echoed informing of its touchdown on earth. The house shook a little at the exact same time of the sound.

I could hear Vivian crying from her room. My parent's voices echoed throughout the house. I quickly glanced back out my window, suddenly terrified as I saw some more meteors fall from the sky. One had landed right at the end of our property. My heart filled with dread when it seemed that the meteor had crashed near our barn. Another sound had echoed as it contacted the ground. A frightful scream came just after the thunderous noise. I ran to my little sisters' room.

"What the heck is going on!?" John exclaimed as I entered the room. He was holding Vivian in hopes of calming her down. His tired eyes looked from the window to me. There was smoke coming from the field.

"I have no idea. They weather forecast never said anything about meteors!" I said as sat down by my siblings. Vivian was crying crocodile tears. I don't like children crying. I rubbed soothing circles on Vivian's back.

"I want mommy!" Vivian wailed as the lights flickered again. I glanced at the door as I hear our parents rush up the stairs. Mom and Dad walked into the room looking frantic. Vivian jumped out of john's arms and ran to our mom. Mom had picked her up whispering to her that everything is fine.

"Dad, what's going on?" John asked.

"They're saying that something hit a satellite. Some meteor showers. I don't know it didn't make sense." Dad said as he rushed to the window. He groaned in frustration before quickly racing out the room. "Evelyn! John! The horses got out! We have to round them up quickly before they get hurt!"

I nodded as I ran to my room. I quickly stripped from my pajamas and throw on some pants and a black hoodie. I slipped my phone in my back pocket as I raced down the stairs. John was already at the back door waiting for me. "Where's Dad?" I asked as we both ran out the back door.

"He said he's calling the neighbors. Wants to make sure they're alright!" He managed to say. I hated running, but I loved our horses more. I almost lost my footing at one point. It was still dark out making it hard to see.

"How did they even get out?" I asked as we came up to the barn. I gasped as I noticed there was smoke coming from the other side. I grabbed john by the back of his shirt pulling back towards me just as two of our horses ran by in fright. "You get them! I'll check inside!" I yelled as I ran towards it ignoring my brother as he yelled at me to wait. I cried in disbelief as I saw a hole in the side of the barn. I entered waving the smoke out of my face. I quickly took in the sight before me; there was a large metal object on the ground. Smoke was drifting from the surface of it. I immediately noticed how it did not look like it was part of a satellite. A flash of silver caught my eye before my attention was ripped away.

"Evelyn! Come and help me!" John yelled from outside. His voice was accompanied with the cries of horses. I glanced back at the strange object. I gasped as the contraption glowed once more. Its surface pulsated with a soft glow, before traveling down to the center of it. It flashes another silver light before it opened. I gasped tripping over my feet until I fell on butt. A hissing sound came from the contraption, before it stopped. I hesitantly moved towards it. Inside was an amber like stone. It continued to glow softly the sight slightly hypnotic.

I don't remember raising my hand. All I knew was that I felt the need to hold the stone. I gently grabbed the stone, surprised by the warmth it held. It was also smooth – nothing like the texture of an actual stone. I gasped as I could feel the object emit another soft glow before it dimmed. I frowned the action some how caused me to worry.

"Evie!" John yelled again. I quickly tucked the object into my hoodie. I will figure out what it was later. I scrambled to my feet quickly walking further in the barn to check on the other animals. It seemed that only those two horses got out. The other animals were fine but scared. I ran out the barn. I caught sight of my brother trying to calm two of our horses Smokey and Taffy. I could hear our dad approaching as his voice called out to us.

"I've never seen them this spooked before! There eyes! Terrified!" John yelled as he tried to calm them.

"I would be terrified if something fell out of the sky and decided to crash into my home too!" I yelled at him. Honestly, use your brain more John. John rolled his eyes at me before he threw me a rope as he focused on the horse in front of him. I slightly cursed as my horse decided to run off. "Taffy! Come back!" I yelled as I chased after him.

"Evie!" I heard my dad yell. I barely noticed he arrived as I had decided to race after the stallion. Taffy ended up going towards the end of the property. He seemed to have calm down a bit as he was now at a stop. I came up a couple of feet behind him. I didn't want to spook him anymore, so I crawled onto the other side of the fence. I walked over to him gently making my presence known. "Hey boy." I said soothingly. Taffy looked out into the forest. I took that as his sign of acknowledging my presence. I slowly climbed the fence stopping to put the lasso around his neck.

"There we go, Taffy. Easy does it." I said. I then decided to climb onto his back. "See, that wasn't so bad was it?" I asked as I rubbed his neck. I apparently spoke to soon because after I said that my phone began to violently ring. The sudden noise scared Taffy, provoking him to run. I yelled as I desperately held onto the rope.

"No! Taffy! Calm down!" I yelled but nothing worked. I ducked my head as I realized Taffy had run off into the forest and I was coming along with him. I gasped at the unexpected jumps he would make. My hands were growing numb from the grip I had on the rope. I quickly glanced behind us, noting that light from the barn was gone. The forest was becoming too thick as we traveled deeper into it. "Taffy please slow down!" I cried as I tried to make him stop. I gasped as Taffy jumped over fallen tree. I screamed in fright as my grip slipped and suddenly, I was thrown from my horse.
