Y/N wandered into the kitchen, bringing the quilt from her bed with her. It had grown colder, and the whole of the servant's wing was freezing. She plopped herself down in front of the hearth, finding the warmth of the flames incredibly pleasant.

After a few minutes, Tola came over to the girl, and after a brief scolding about the quilt, gave her a bowl of hot porridge.

Y/N couldn't help but be amazed that, even in the recent cold spell, Tola still was wearing the same thing that she always did. Simple work skirt, apron, and a plain white blouse with the sleeves rolled up. Now that she thought about it though, regardless of the weather, Tola was always dressed the same. It was as though the cold didn't affect her. If anything, she seemed to be more energetic then she was before.

She just decided to accept that it was one of those strange things about Tola that she would never understand. She spooned the last bite of porridge into her mouth, and placed it in the wash bin.

"Oi, don' worry about it littlen," Tola said kindly. "I can take care of the kitchen. You run along and go outside, there is something worth seein'."

Feeling rather confused, Y/N nodded her head and walked to the kitchen door. She hesitated to put her hand on the cold metal of the door handle, but after a moment she did, pulling the door open.

She let out a gasp of surprise at the sight that greeted her, and raced up the stairs and out into the courtyard. It was snowing. The large, snowflakes were fluttering down through the air, and beginning to blanket everything in white.

Her breath formed a little cloud in the air, as she looked around at the caste that was being transformed before her eyes. The stables looked like a frosted gingerbread house, as did the barn. The castle loomed over the whole of the courtyard, the snow making it look like it grew seamlessly from the mountain itself. And the temple looked more regal than ever.

Y/N spun around in wonder, her feet kicking up little flurries. She had seen snow before in the village, but she never knew just how beautiful it truly was.

As she continued to stare up at the sky she suddenly felt something cold collide with the back of her head. She whirled around to see Alfonse standing a few paces away, a cheeky grin on his face. His hand was still extended from the throw of the snowball.

Y/N scooped up her own handful of snow as she walked closer to the ginger coachman. He waggled his eyebrows at her playfully as she came nearer. She pulled her hand back and quickly threw the snowball at him. It seemed to fly in slow motion as Y/N watched it. Before Alfonse had the chance to react, it hit him squarely in the face.

He stood there for a moment in shock, then he started laughing and reached down to pick up more snow. "Oh, you're in for it now," he chuckled as he started to walk towards Y/N. "You better watch out little miss."

Y/N giggled, and hurried to run away. She headed towards the chicken coop, and even though the wall was too tall for her to climb over, it gave her valuable cover to make her own snowballs.

She hurried to kneel on the ground and began to grab handfuls of snow. Then she peeked her head over the wall to try and find where Alfonse was. As soon as Alfonse caught sight of Y/N's H/C hair he immediately began to throw snowballs at her.

She quickly ducked back behind the wall. Then she began to throw the snowballs that she had made at the last place that she had seen Alfonse. Once she ran out she knew that she was in trouble. She didn't have time to make more, and she could hear Alfonse's merry laughter as he walked towards her.

Y/N jumped to her feet and scrambled away. This time she ran to the giant staircase that led up to the main doors into the castle. She gathered more snow, knowing that with his long legs Alfonse would catch up with her soon.

She turned around to face him, another snowball prepared in her hands. Suddenly, there was the deep sound of the doors to the castle opening behind Y/N. The sound of boots walking quickly down the stairs could be heard even though they were muffled by the snow.

Before Y/N could turn around, she felt a pair of arms wrap themselves around her. Then she felt a great weight on her shoulders as a fur cloak that was much too big for her was placed on them. The cloak was very warm, but so heavy that Y/N could barely move, and it was so long that over half of it hung on the ground.

"Whatever are you doing outside without a coat on?" Frosino said behind her as he placed his hands on her shoulders. "It is too cold for you to go outside without the proper garments. You will get sick."

"But I want to keep playing with Alfonse," Y/N pouted.

"Well, play time's over for today," Frosino responded as he scooped the girl, still in his fur cloak, into his arms before she could protest. "Come on, let's get you warmed up."

With that, he carried her back into the kitchen and kept her wrapped up in his cloak while Tola prepared some hot tea. Soon the tea was ready, and Tola, Alfonse, Y/N, and Frosino all sat around the kitchen hearth as they enjoyed the warm beverage.

Y/N didn't notice how cold she was until the warm mug was held in her hands. She took a sip, and let out a small sigh as she felt the drink begin to warm her up from the inside.

Frosino discussed different matters with the two other adults concerning the coming winter, obviously, Y/N found the whole conversation incredibly dull and simply let her young mind wander as she watched the snow falling beautifully through the windows.

This chapter has me feeling all festive.

I don't know when you reach the point of too much continuous fluff, but we will probably get there with this book at some point. ^~^

Until next time I'll see you on the other side
