of the fair child manor. pots of plants and fresh grass
were walked upon, as vela followed behind her
grandmother, and the peculiar lady that guided them. she admired and examined each and every
layer of the manor, astonished at how such a place
can be.

her hands were sweating. partly because of
how long and hard she was holding on to the bags
and suicases, but mostly because she was anxious
of what was to come forth of her. new places,
especially big places made vela extremely
stressed. it started off when she was only an
offspring.

all three of them stopped in front of the door,
as ms. grose turned her body to face them both.

"now, i must warn you"
ms. grose spoke, straightening her posture.
"the kids are a handful, rather spoiled to say
the least" she finished.

"just be careful what you speak around them,
the children lost their parents close to 4 years
ago and although it may have been a long time
since then, they are still dealing with it"
the lady spoke, making her words veryn clear.

vela gave the woman a look of sympathy, genuinely
feeling sorry about the situation. she, herself had gone through a similar problem, and she knew
how awful it felt.

the woman paused. she glanced at both of their
faces, reassuring herself that she was being clear.

"and you.." the lady spoke, grabbing velas attention
as her voice pointed at vela.

"yes-"

"i must prepare you for the temper of miles.
he throws a bit of a fit when he doesn't get
what he wants or expects"
ms. grose said, whilst cutting vela off.

vela knew of people like that, seen as she was
used to meeting peers like that she wasn't too fazed
or disturbed by ms. grose comment. matter of fact
she assumed that ms. grose was overreacting.

"o-ok, i will make sure to watch out for that"
vela spoke as she pursed her lips together and
nodded her head.

"i mean it. miles can be...cruel as well as
difficult at times"

it was a silence a rather alarming silence. the
whole context ruined the mood, as vela slightly
shifted in her spot. all that anyone could hear were
the sounds of birds chirping around them and the
wind blowing through their hair.

"now. i assume we are all on the same page, i'll
welcome you in"

ms. grose twisted the knob of the front door,
causing it to make a small rattle sound. she swung
the door open and left some space for the both of
them to come in the entrance.

vela's grandmother stepped in first, as vela stayed
behind to make sure that she got in safely. once
vela stepped inside of the huge space, a fresh scent
hit her in the face. the space smelt of a garden.
it could have been because of the garden so
close behind the backyard.

vela examined the inside in amazement. it was
so vivid. she thought for sure that she was in a dream. all of this bliss nearly made her forget
about the sadness that she was once dealing with.

vela's grandmother stepped beside vela, as she
rubbed her hand smoothly up and down her back.
"isnt it beautiful, v?" she spoke, leaning her head
on top of velas.

"it is, grams" vela smiled, a genuine smile, one that
she hadn't used in a long time. in the back of her
mind, she knew that this wasn't permanent, she
new she musn't let her self forget that, but she
was truly happy. as well as truly smiling.

from afar, footsteps could be heard, echoing.
the footsteps became louder as well as closer.
vela swiftly turned her head to the far off end of
the hall, searching where the noise could have
been coming from.

vela squinted her eyes, as she saw a faint figure,
a tall slanky one. then, a gentle child-like laugh could be heard from right behind the figure. the physique
was fully exposed by the bright light, coming out
from the windows.

it was a boy, which vela presumed was the famous
miles that ms. grose had told her about. he was
truly stunning. vela slightly opened her mouth, staring at him, but not having any intentions to
speak.

he leisurely looked up, his messy curls hovering
over his forehead. his skin was as white as milk,
and as pale as chalk. the faint cherry pink color
of his lips grabbed vela's attention, while she
also focused her sight on his heavily sharp
jawline, sure that if she grazed her fingertips
across it, it would cut her.

vela gulped. one look at him, one time, and she
felt so much more smaller than him, that if he
were to stand over her, there would be no competition.

a little girl came hopping alongside of him,
holding his hand. her laughter stopped shortly
after she witnessed the new people standing by
the front door.

"miles, flora please introduce yourselves"
ms. grose spoke to the two.

miles let go of flora's hand, stepping closer
to the people who were in front of him.

"im miles, or to you master"
the boy simply implied. he said nothing else
as he looked behind him, gesturing for flora to
come aside him, and introduce herself as well.

"m-my name is flora...flora fairchild"
the little girl spoke.

vela stepped forward, toward the two.

"my name is vela, vela thunman"
vela introduced, as she bent down to flora's
level.

"and this is my grandmother"
vela pointed behind her to where her grandmother
was standing. the small girl smiled, but still stayed
alongside her brother.

"come on, let me help you settle into your rooms"
ms. grose started to walk, as vela stood up and walked besides her grandmother, waving to
the girl.

as vela started walking, she started wondering
if being here wasn't as bad as she thought it would
be.
