"- and that is how you tame a dragon."
Charlie blink animatedly. Somehow, Hailey had started talking about animals going from a normal house cat to taming a dragon. Half of the information, however, went in one ear and out the other. Despite not understanding he nodded in agreement with a smile.
"Thank you for telling me." He laughed out quietly.
The small child smiled before focusing on the waffles on her plate. "Mama never let me eat this!" She shoved a piece into her small mouth. "It's good!"
Charlie leaned back on his chair, observing the now quite child. There were a few things he had realize after bringing her in.
One, she was a very energetic person around people she liked but reserved around strangers. This warmed his heart. His daughter didn't see him as a stranger who helped in creating her but as an actual father.
Two, she had an allergy to peanuts. This is something that took him by surprise. Such a small thing can cause her harm especially at a young age.
Just as Charlie was going to strike up a conversation the door was opened. "I'm home!" A voice called out, entering the small home.
Hailey snapped her head up, looking over towards the entrance. "Have you heard anything from Jacob?" The voice called out.
Charlie let out a sigh at the question, "no." He stands and walks towards his oldest daughter. "I know you are worried but it's just mono. He'll be fine in a few days." The man reassured.
The small brunette slid off the chair, running towards her father. Peeking out she saw the one person she hoped to see, Bella Swan. "Belle!"
The teenager turned, surprised at the small voice. "Hailey!" She glanced towards her father sho turned away. "What are you doing here?"
The child looked up at her with a smile. "Mama said that you needed me. So, she sent me with this lady who gave me a granola bar..." she pouted. "but it wasn't chocolate chip, it was raisins."
Bella lightly glared at her father knowing he had told her mother. "Well, I'm fine, Hailey." She patted her head. "I am glad to see you." She pulled her into a hug.
Charlie looked at the exchange. Though it had been a few moments he could see a difference. Bella, though she was still a bit down, seemed happier with the younger Swan girl. Not only that but he can see that a protective instinct immediately over came Bella.
"Belle, I want to meet big brother Jake!" She suddenly said as soon as her big sister mentioned him.
Charlie cleared his throat, "Hailey, that isn't possible right now. Jake is sick." He explained.
