Hailey sat besides Paul, head leaning against his arm. Slowly she looked up at the boy, her breath uneven. "Paul..." she muttered before scratching her throat and cheek.

Paul looked down and saw redness around her mouth. "Hailey, are you okay?" He asked concerned.

The girl sniffed, before clenching her stomach. "N-no. My stomach hurts. A lot." She said in short breaths.

Paul turned towards Bella calling out to her. "Hey, Swan!" She turned. "What's wrong with Hailey?"

This made her turn towards the small child that was obviously in pain. She quickly made her way towards her. "Hailey, hey." She tilted her head up. "Runny nose, redness, slight swelling." She examined.

Bella looked over towards the muffins before looking up at Emily, "hey, uh Emily?" The tan woman turned. "What kind of muffins are they?" Bella almost dreaded the response.

"Uh, chocolate chip, plain, and peanut-"

Bella didn't stop to let her finish, quickly picking her up and rushing to her truck. "It's okay." She muttered to herself.

Paul jumped up, following after her. "Hey! What's wrong?" He demanded. Bella however ignored him and placed her down on the seat.

Paul grabbed her arm and Bella finally looked at him, eyes filled with worry. "She's allergic to peanuts!" She finally announced before getting out of his grasp and making her way towards the drivers seat.

Paul didn't hesitate to get on the truck, placing Hailey on his lap as she struggled to breath. "Drive."

Bella didn't bother getting him out the car. Instead she quickly drove away, leaving everyone else clueless.

Paul have her directions as to where to go, making the drive even faster. Bella looked over towards Hailey. "How is her breathing?" She quickly asked as she made a turn.

Paul looked down at her as the small child whimpered in pain. "Slow, and probably not good."

Hailey wheezed out, "am I going to be okay?" She asked out, struggling.

Bella nodded. "Yes! Yes, you'll be great. You'll be fine." Bella tried not only to convince the small child but mostly herself and the slightly panicked male.

"Hey, kid. You are going to be alright, don't you worry."

Bella quickly parked the car in front of the emergency side of the hospital. She shut off her truck and got out. Paul carries her inside as Bella grabbed a nurse.

"My sister is allergic to peanut and accidentally ate some." She quickly explained.

The nurse moved towards Paul, calling out to more nurses and a doctor. They quickly took her away as one of the nurses asked Bella health related questions about Hailey. Soon enough that nurse left as well.

"How bad are her attacks?" Paul asked while pacing with worry.

Bella looked up at him slightly confused as to why he was so worried about her. "She hasn't had one in a few years... and this one didn't seem as bad as the first." She still replied.

Paul nodded but not bothering to sit down.

Bella pulled out her phone, dialing Charlie's number. She was quick to explain the situation leaving out the wolf part. After being scolded he hung up announcing that he was on his way.

Soon Charlie arrived. He ran over towards Bella, slightly panting. "How is she?" He quickly asked placing his hands over her shoulders.

Bella looked up at her father, her hand falling to her side. "The doctors haven't said anything yet." She muttered.

Charlie nodded and looked over towards the tall dark haired boy who was besides Bella. "Who are you?" Charlie asked curiously giving Bella a look.

Bella blushed at what her father was insinuating. Shaking her head she looked at Paul before turning back to her father. "This is Paul, a....friend of Jake." She smiled.

"Nice to need you, Chief Swan." Paul raised his hand to shake his.

Charlie shook his hand before turning back to Bella, "did your mother not send her epi-pen with Hailey?" Charlie asked. The teen shook her head.

"No, it has been a while since she had an allergy reaction." Bella let out a sigh before mumbling a 'maybe she forgot she had allergies'.

Quickly she looked up as she heard a door open and close. "Family of Hailey Swan?" The doctor called out. Charlie stepped forward along with Bella both saying a here.

"We have treated and got her stabilized. She is currently resting." The doctor informed. The two Swans' let out a sigh of relief. "However, I have to ask. Why did you not use the Epinephrine Auto-Injectors?"

Bella looked at the doctor, "my sister arrived not that long ago and my mother seemed to have not packed it with her." Bella informed.

The doctor nodded, "very well. We will prescribe it to her but for now she is fine." The doctor said while he finished writing on her clipboard.

"Thank you Doctor." Bella said and Charlie followed her in thanking the doctor.

"Will we be able to see her?" Charlie asked. The doctor nodded and gave them her room number. With that Bella and Charlie walked towards her room.

Bella paused as she was about to enter the hall that lead her to Hailey. She looked over towards Paul. "You can head back..." she turned around.

Suddenly she gave a sigh before turning back towards him, "or you can come along." Bella said before walking after her father.

The tall boy looked towards the door and back to the hall Bella just walked down towards. He then followed behind Bella. There was no way in hell that he was going to leave his imprint. Not now, not ever.

Paul failed to protect her even if it was something he couldn't know or control. Now he was determined to not leave her and stay by her side. Though that's what his heart said his mind said a different story.

As much as he adored and loved the young child there was no way he would become anything more than a protector and a brother to her. As her 'brother' he vows to not let anything else harm her. Paul will not even let her harm herself.
