Amber's POV:
The next day in school, lessons go by pretty fast seeing as we don't really do any work, except for the little important things we do after coming back from any holiday. We write our names on the front of our books and get our first load of work.
Every lesson I look over at Lily and she seems very detached. I mean she's normally a leech for gossip, but when Ebony was excitedly informing us about a girl in our year who cheated on her boyfriend and got pregnant from her ex, all Lily did was shrug her shoulders as if she didn't care !!! Well, I mean, she shouldn't care because it's none of our business but she's always had something to say about everything.
It really does make me worry for her and it makes me sad seeing my best friend upset because I know she doesn't deserve any type of sadness in her life.
Before we know it, it's already lunch time and just as we've all got our food, spicy noodles today, I get a message from Allana.
ALLANA 🦋 : how r we getting the numbers
ME : we'll hv to sneak in2 the office n get em
ALLANA 🦋 : bruh how ? It's impossible 2 get in2 that place
ME : steal the key ?
EBBBSSS <3 : what's going on guys + why r u talking about theft ?
ME : Allana fill her in plz
" Erm Amber, I'm just gonna be off to the toilet." It's Lilly and she has risen from the dead.
" Okay, I'm coming with you though." I have to. What if what happened before happens again and I could have stopped it.
" You don't have to."
" I know but I want to." I know she appreciates it from the little smile she sends my away. It makes me smile seeing her smile.
So we both get up and throw our empty wrappers in the bin on our way.
On the way I ask her about everything at home, her mum and her kind of distant family in Spain. She responds with generic answers. It makes me wonder what I can do to cheer her up but to be honest I have no idea what I can actually do. I so badly want to ask her why she seems so upset but I don't want to bombard her with questions and overwhelm her. It could be something personal that she doesn't feel like sharing.
Ebony probably would have done a better job at cheering her up, since her weird moods always make Lilly laugh and smile. We both take the piss out of her but she doesn't mind. At least, I'm sure she doesn't anyway.
We reach the toilets and whilst she goes in, I whip my phone out and see that the I have about 102 notifications from the group chat. Who else is going to text me to be honest ?
I scroll all the way down past the massive paragraph where Allana has explained everything to Ebony.
ME : Do u understand now ?
EBBBSSS <3 : No I don't coz it's not like Allana didn't just explain it all (!)
ME : Got it lmao and wow u rlly added the exclamation mark thing they do in movie subtitles
EBBBSSS <3 : Bruh only u watch movies with their subtitles on
ME : not my fault I can multi task :P it's better w them anyway
EBBBSSS <3 : whatever lmao x I'll see you guys at the location ;)
And I can see that they've already made a plan, to meet afterschool in the maths corridor, seeing as that's the one closest to the office.
