Amber's POV:

Oh shit. What the hell am I gonna say to her?! I definitely don't do well under pressure and she's still staring at me waiting for an answer. If I say I have an after school detention will she check to see if I'm lying? I bite my lip in agitation but then the perfect white lie pops up into my head.

"I'm just waiting for Miss Khan, she needs to let me in her class for my detention."

She squints her eyes at me, searching into my soul. I try to hold her gaze and not give anything away. Sometimes I don't think Miss Hunter is human. Even her name is scary. The amount of teachers she's made cry and quit their jobs is unbelievable. " Hmm, well I don't have time for this." Then why on earth did you ask? I wonder.

"Stand to the side then, chop chop, there is no need for you to take up the entire corridor."

"Yes miss." I answer through gritted teeth and slide to the side of the corridor. Did she just indirectly call me fat?! Bruh, that's one way to kill someone's confidence. I scoff at the thought and lean on the wall, still waiting for my friends to hurry up.

I carefully take my phone out of my pocket to check the time. Hoping that no teacher pops out of nowhere and catches me. I would have got the 11 but I didn't really like it to be honest plus I didn't have enough money saved up for it. It's 15:04 pm now so I send them a message on the group chat asking where they are, we literally have no time to waste - they kind of need to hurry up. Wow, I almost sound as impatient as Allana. That's a new one.

Suddenly, I hear footsteps and look up to see them in the opposite corner of the corridor jogging towards me, with massive grins on their faces due to what we're about to do.

As they reach me Ebony is the first one to ask a question, "Wait, are we allowed to Snapchat this? Everyone's gonna be so jealous we're sneaking around." She flips her hair in an ironic and sarcastic manner.

"So basically you depend on validation from people you see at school and let them determine whether you have fun or not?" Allana laughs at her.

"Uh. I've never really thought of it like that to be fair. Anyway, shouldn't we be getting started already." The last part Ebony whispers.

"You're right we're just procrastinating at this point." she replies.

"What are we going to say if someone sees us?" Just as I say that I feel a hard tug on my arm and my black is slammed into the wall. "Owwwww. That hurrrrrrrt." I whine rubbing my arm where I was pulled. I'd rub my back but I can't really reach it.

"I'm so sorry someone was walking past and they could have seen us." Allana whispers at me. I look over to see Ebony in the same situation. Huh looks like she saved two birds with one push. Get it ? Coz it's supposed to be kill two birds with one stone but she pushed us instead ? Yeah okay moving on. When I ask her who she thinks it was and if we'll get in trouble she says it was "Miriam Hussain. You know the caretaker's niece."

"There was no need to hide us from her." Ebony laughs.

"Why—"

But I interrupt Allana, "I think the real question is why is she walking towards us with keys in her hands and a grin on her face?"

"You're welcome." Ebony says out of nowhere, looking smug with her arms folded across her chest. Wait..... she didn't ?!!

"Oh my gosh Ebs you didn't ?!" Allana squeals.

"Yup. I did. I convinced her to steal the keys for like 10 minutes. I told her it was for something important and that I owed her a favour in return." This is great, this means the plan is finally coming together. "And here she comes now." As she says that Miriam comes jogging towards us, out of breath, her bronze skin glistening, her hazel eyes excited and her chestnut hair bouncing around everywhere.
