Sowon's eyes searched for the younger female that had caught her attention that year, flicking over every student that left the school building. She frowned, not seeing Yerin anywhere. She hopped on the spot in impatience. Eventually, the blonde girl walked out of the building, walking beside the tall junior that was her best friend.
"Sowoniee!" Yerin suddenly grinned, waving her hand excitedly. She turned to the girl beside her, saying something and putting a hand gently on the girl's arm. The girl pouted and nodded. They walked towards Sowon together.
"Hey, you are umji right?" Sowon greeted with a smile.
"Yes I am, it was nice meeting you. Yerin unnie said she wanted to walk with you. I'll see you tomorrow unnie."
Yerin smiled, " See you tomorrow umji." Umji smiled and walked away. Yerin turned to Sowon "where is your sister?"
"Eunha walks her home," Sowon replied, "why are you asking?"
Yerin hummed, looking to her right for a moment before looking at Sowon again. "Well, she usually walks with you. I was wondering why she wasn't here today."
"I told them to walk ahead of me so that I could be with you," Sowon smiled, stepping closer to the girl. "I hope that isn't a problem, yenni."
Yerin blushed and looked away. "You're seriously so embarrassing."Sowon laughed a vociferous laugh. "I'm not embarrassing! Come, let's go home."
"Actually, I wanted to go buy a smoothie first. Join me?" Yerin asked, tilting her head as an extra way to convince Sowon. The red-haired girl hummed in pretence.
"Okay, I'll go with you" Sowon replied after a bit. yerin laughed a bit and nodded. With that, they began walking off the school grounds. They kept that bit of space between them as they walked to the busier side of town.
"We're going to Galaxy," Yerin said, her voice slightly strained because she was stretching her arms above her head exposing a bit of her belly. Sowon noticed and gently tugged at the ends of her T-shirt to cover the exposed skin. Yerin blushed, for the second time of the day and quickly turned her head around.
"Are you that tired?" Sowon asked.
"Kind of," the younger girl sighed out. "I had a math test today, so two hours of silence is kind of boring.
"Aw," Sowon pouted in a sympathetic manner. "I hope you did well, though. You're smart, right?"
"Smarter than you," Yerin teased with a slight giggle. "I'm joking, I'm joking. You're pretty smart too."
Sowon grinned haughtily. "Of course I'm smart. Maybe smarter than you."
Yerin rolled her eyes. "Maybe."
Sowon hummed, looking up at the sky in silence. They walked quietly in a comfortable silence that didn't seem to bother them. They just seemed content with being with one another."Yerin, is Eunbi (sinb) a better person than me?"
Yerin looked at Sowon's sudden downcast expression in confusion and shock. "Why would you ask that?"
"Because everyone likes Eunbi," Sowon replied quickly. " Eunbi is the light of the world while I'm the shadow she casts. I'm nothing compared to her. Honestly, do you think she's a better person than me?"
Yerin thought carefully about her words before she decided to speak. "Eunbi may be smarter than you, more pretty than you and probably have more common sense than you..." She stepped sideways to the older, putting a hand on her shoulder. "... but you're Kim Sowon, the girl that stole my heart. I didn't fall for you because you were pretty, or because you're an idiot. I fell for you because you're not afraid to be you. Eunbi's trying to be what others want her to be. You're yourself, and that's the best type of person."
Sowon stared for a moment before smiling. "You're so amazing, you know?"
Yerin covered her eyes with one hand and hit Sowon with another while laughing. "You're a little embarrassing too! Look, there's the cafe."
The two walked to the quaint little cafe that had a bookstore connected to it. Sowon raised an eyebrow as they walked through the door. Sowon looked around — it had quite a high ceiling. "So this is Galaxy huh?"
Yerin nodded. "There's a bookstore and stationery store connected at the back. So what do you want to get?"
Yerin and Sowon walked to the counter, "may I know what will be your order for today,Yerin-sii?"
" Yerin-sii what a cute name." Sowon thought
"Unnie, Unnie, what do u want to drink?" Yerin asked. "I want you" replied Sowon with a smirk on her face.
Yerin's face turned into a deep shade of red "Ah come on unnie, don't say it like this..."
Sowon turned to the person at the counter "I'll have a cinnamon ice tea thank you!"
"Order #142!"
"That's ours," Sowon said. She snaked an arm around Yerin's shoulder, like the coy person she was, as they walked to the front desk to get their drinks.
"How does it taste?" Yerin asked, looking over at the older with curious eyes.
"Like ice tea, but with a bit of a cinnamon kick. It tastes great, trust me," Sowon smiled.
